HomeMy Public PortalAbout2883-1974 - Zoning - 10 N. 36th St - R-1 to C-2ORDINANCE NO. 2883-1974 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2325-1968 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, ADOPTED JUNE 3, 1968. BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the Zoning Map which is a part of Ordinance No. 2325- 1968 designates and describes as R-1 One Family Residence District the following described property located at 10 North 36th Street, in the City of Richmond, Indiana, more particularly described as follows: Lots 57 - 58, Bel-Mor Addition SECTION 2. WHEREAS, it is the intent and purpose hereof to change the Zoning Classification of the above described area from R-1 to C-2. SECTION 3. WHEREAS, a study of this Ordinance was conducted by the Richmond City Plan Commission the �'A day of 1974, at which time remonstrances were heard from all partie' g interested in or affected by this Ordinance. SECTION 4. WHEREAS, the vote of the Richmond City Plan Commission was 5 to in favor of / Wmitian to recommending the passage of Ordinance No. 2883-1974. NOW THEREFORE: SECTION 5. It is hereby ordained that the zoning classification of the above described property be, and the same is hereby changed to C-2 Community Busi- ness District, and that said property be regulated in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Richmond, Indiana, and all amendments thereto. SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as by law required. SECTION 7. The original zoning classification of the aforementioned area is hereby rescinded and the zoning classification of this area will be in accor- dance with Section 2 of this Ordinance. Dear President Marino, Council Members & Mrs. Mellen: The Richmond City Plan Commission held a public hearing on Tues- day, April 23, 1974, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Richmond Municipal Building on the petition of James L. and Vera Mae Solomon, 432 South 18th Street, Richmond, Indiana, requesting a rezoning from R-1, One -Family Residential, to C-2, Community Bus- iness, to permit general offices at 10 North 36th Street, Richmond, Indiana. All parties interested in or affected by this request were heard. No remonstrances were presented at the hearing. Ten (10) letters were sent to adjoining property owners and only one (1) was re- turned and it was favorable. On Tuesday, May 28th, 1974, the Plan Commission voted five (5) to one (1) to recommend approval of the rezoning to Common Council. Mr. Geier voted in opposition.
