BREWSTER BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2009 AT 7:OOPM
TOWN HALL, ROOM A
Present: Joanne Hughes, Chairman, James Reynolds, Keith Johnson, Andrew Petty, Nancy Ellis Ice, Health
Director and Tammi Mason, Senior Department Assistant.
1. J.M. O'Reilly &Associates-request to keep existing sas less than 300' of pond-57 Blackberry Lane
Keith Fernandez presented this to the Board. The current system is in failure. They will be going with Town
water and using the existing well for irrigation purposes. This property is considered an environmentally
sensitive area and conditions would apply.
Motion: AP-grant variance with ESA conditions applying. JR seconded. 4 yes.
2. Minutes from 2/24/09 meeting
Motion: KJ-approve minutes. AP seconded. 4 yes.
3. Minutes from 3/3/09 meeting
Motion: JR-approve minutes. AP seconded. 4 yes.
4. Discuss letter from Prime Engineering re: Cape Sand & Recycling
Noted.
5. Discuss reducing the number of monitoring wells at Pleasant Bay Health & Living Center
NI handed out letter from Gabrielle Belfit, CCC.
Motion: KJ-write letter that the Board agrees with the CCC decision. JR seconded. 4 yes.
6. Discuss proposed Sand & Gravel regulations
NI handed out a letter from Zisson & Veara regarding this issue. A few changes were made. Clerk will retype
and bring back to the Board. A copy will be sent to Leo Cakounes of the Mass. Farm Bureau Federation for
any additional comments he might have.
7. Discuss proposed Shared Septic System regulations
NI informed the Board that Sue Leven, Town Planner had suggested coming up with a "Scope of Work". It
was also suggested that it should be given to multiple people to review. The Board agreed with this.
8. Discuss Health regulation concepts and "Sewers and Smart growth" (By CC Water Protection Coll.)
Noted.
9. Discuss memorandum from DPH re: proposed amendments to Minimum Standards for Bathing
