A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH FORT MYERS CONSTRUCTION
CORPORATION FOR THE AIRPORT NORTH END ACCESS ROAD
PROJECT
WHEREAS,the Airport North End Access Road project is an approved capital project in
the FY 2012-2017 Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, additional work is needed to stabilize the soils in the access road; and
WHEREAS, staff has been working with the contractor to negotiate an appropriate cost for
this stabilization work; and
WHEREAS, staff has been working with the Virginia Department of Aviation(DOAV) for
agreement to cover 80%of the cost of this work; and
WHEREAS, staff anticipates that the DOAV will concur with the expense; and
WHEREAS,the usuitable soils and weather have delayed the project and displaced and
inconvenienced twelve condominium hangar owners; and
WHEREAS,there is sufficient funding within the capital projects fund to cover this work.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is authorized to execute an agreement, in a form approved by the Town Attorney
with Fort Myer Construction Corporation with a not to exceed dollar value of$140,000 for the soil
stabilization work necessary for the Airport North End Access Road project.
