A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING THE LEESBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAFFIC
SAFETY INITIATIVE
WHEREAS,the Leesburg Town Council recognizes that traffic problems,ranging from
crashes to congestion, from DUI to aggressive driving, is a public safety issue that negatively
impacts the quality of life in Leesburg and
WHEREAS,the Town Council desires to send a singular focused message that Leesburg is
a safe driving community and that a central focus of the entire Leesburg government is the safe
and efficient flow of traffic throughout our community, and
WHEREAS,the Town Council wants to insure that all citizens realize that increased
vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the school year heightens traffic safety concerns, and
WHEREAS,the Town Council recognizes the dangers of aggressive and distracted
driving and wants to take all necessary steps to prevent aggressive driving and distracted driving
in the Town of Leesburg.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The Council endorses the Leesburg Police Department Traffic Safety
Initiative and directs the Chief of Police and the Town Manager to implement the steps outlined in
the Police Department Traffic Safety Initiative for the safe and efficient flow of traffic throughout
our community.
SECTION II. The Town Council calls on all motorists and pedestrians to join the Town
Council and the Town of Leesburg Government in making traffic safety a priority in our

community. With the start of a new school year the potential for traffic crashes increases
significantly. Safe driving requires complete focus and so the Town Council urges all drivers to
focus on safe driving throughout our community.
