HomeMy Public PortalAbout2013_09_10_R108 Initiating Amendments to the ZO re New Zoning District for Morven Park The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED September 10, 2013 RESOLUTION NO. 2013-108 ADOPTED September 10, 2013 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A NEW ZONING DISTRICT FOR THE MORVEN PARK PROPERTY WHEREAS,the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation which owns approximately 990 acres outside the Town limits within Loudoun County, known as Morven Park,which is utilized for community and educational events, has expressed a desire to be within the boundaries of the Town; and WHEREAS, The Town's Zoning Ordinance will need to be amended to accommodate Morven Park should the Boundary Line Adjustment be approved; and WHEREAS; the Town's Zoning Ordinance may be amended from time to time by the Town Council; and WHEREAS,the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require the proposed amendments. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I: Amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are hereby initiated and referred to the Planning Commission to establish a new zoning district for the Morven Park Property and to amend other sections of the Zoning Ordinance as necessary to accommodate the proposed district. - 2 - A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A NEW ZONING DISTRICT FOR THE HISTORIC MORVEN PARK PROPERTY SECTION II: The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
