HomeMy Public PortalAbout2013_09_24_R112 Approving the Waiver of Fees for the Wounded Walk Parade and Ceremony The Town of Leesburg, O Virginia PRESENTED September 24, 2013 RESOLUTION NO. 2013-112 ADOPTED September 24, 2013 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE WAIVER OF FEES FOR THE WOUNDED WALK PARADE AND CEREMONY WHEREAS, the Wounded Walk in support of the Wounded Warrior Project will pass through Leesburg on October 5, 2013 at approximately 10:15 a.m.; and WHEREAS, two Marines, one a Leesburg resident, are walking from Camp Pendleton, CA to Washington, D.C.; and WHEREAS, the organizers have requested a parade down North King Street followed by a ceremony on the Loudoun County Courthouse grounds; and WHEREAS, the $2,150 fee waiver request represents $300 for Ida Lee Park rental fees and the event application fee, and the remaining $1,850 represents real costs for staffing police officers and public works staff to support the street closures; and WHEREAS, the Town Council recognizes the benefits of the Wounded Walk that raises funds and awareness of the Wounded Warrior Project. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the associated fees in the amount of$2,150 for the Wounded Walk Parade and Ceremony are waived.
