A RESOLUTION: TOWN COUNCIL RECOGNIZES AND SUPPORTS THE LOUDOUN
COUNTY DETACHMENT OF THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE ON
THE NATIONAL TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, the mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to
collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute
those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign
is conducted; and
WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Detachment of the Marine Corps League has requested
support from the Town of Leesburg by providing toy drop/collection sites at Town facilities; and
WHEREAS, the toy drop/collection sites would be located at Town Hall; Ida Lee
Recreation Center; Thomas Balch Library; Leesburg Airport; and Leesburg Police Department;
and
WHEREAS, drop/collection boxes would be provided at these facilities upon approval by
Council and toys would be collected from the drop/collection sites from December 12 through
December 16, 2013.
WHEREAS, the primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at
Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming
responsible,productive, patriotic citizens.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:

THE NATIONAL TOYS FOR TOTS CAMPAIGN
SECTION I. The Leesburg Town Council recognizes and supports the Loudoun County
Detachment of the Marine Corps League on the National Toys for Toys Campaign and their
message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible,
productive, and patriotic citizens.
SECTION II. Toys for Tots drop/collection sites shall be located at Town Hall; Ida Lee
Recreation Center; Thomas Balch Library, Leesburg Airport; and Leesburg Police Department.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
PASSED this 8th day of October, 2013.
