HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-26-2014BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 26, 2014 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 26, 2014, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Present were: Vicki Robinson, Tony Foster and Dick Foore Also in attendance were Walt Chidester, City Attorney; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk; City Engineer Greg Stiens; Police Major Mark Connery; Tim Brown, Fire Department; Dennis Hiner, Indiana Department of Transportation; Bruce Oesterling, Permits and Inspections; and, Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Foster moved to amend the minutes of June 19, 2014 by adding 231 North 17th Street to the list of properties for which bids were received for demolition, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Mr. Foster moved to approve the amended minutes for the June 19, 2014 meeting with a second by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. �e1 64 Eel : »_Vdiyy I =1 L' k I Mr. Foore moved to approve the Claims for Payment in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty Nine Thousand Two Hundred Sixty Dollars and forth six cents ($559,260.10), supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS • STREET CLOSURE: New Beginnings Church — 3rd Annual Family Affair Love, Live, Laugh Northwest H Street - July 12, 2014; and 814 — 900 Sheridan The Traffic Division of the Police Department recommended approval of this closure on Northwest "H" Street only. Sheridan Street is a main thoroughfare and should not be closed for the day. Mr. Foster moved to approve as recommended and for the hours of 8 am — 10 pm, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS None Board of Works Minutes June 26, 2014 Page 2 of 4 RESCIND BID • DEMOLITION OF 231 NORTH 17TH STREET At the request of KAF Enterprises this bid would be rescinded because a piece of necessary equipment is inoperable. Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID AWARDS • DEMOLITION OF UNSAFE BUILDINGS (Metropolitan Development) Recommendations for bid awards were as follows: Cox Excavating 120 North 14th Street $8,500.00 2405 NW 17th Street $3,400.00 2315 NW 16th Street $3,200.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Toschlog Excavating 410 North 15th Street $7,500.00 310 NW "K" Street $3,250.00 231 North 17th Street $13,800.00 Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Culy Contracting 1228 Hunt Street $2,000.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • PHASE I — 2014 ADA HANDICAP RAMP PROJECT (Street) Mr. Foore moved to approve the bid award to ProLawn Care and Landscaping in an amount not to exceed Thirty Three Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Dollars and zero cents ($33,270.00), as recommended by Mr. Bossel, Street Department Superintendent. This motion was supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 77 -2014 — PROLAWN CARE & LANDSCAPING Curbs & Sidewalks — North "B" Street — 11th — 12th Streets and New Museum Parking Lot Not to exceed $84,931.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 78 -2014 — TOSCHLOG EXCAVATING Emergency demolition of 231 North 17th Street Not to exceed $13,800.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. B -33600 — SUNESIS CONSTRUCTION Change Order No. 003 — South 9th Street Bridge Removal Not to exceed $2,377.03 Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • PROJECT #R -33888 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS Change Order No. 001 — Reconstruction Project South "E" Street from 5 -16th Street • Not to exceed $21,551.60 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • PROJECT #R -33888 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS Change Order No. 002 — Reconstruction Project South "E" Street from 5 -16th Street Not to exceed $36,193.11 • PROJECT #R -33888 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS Change Order No. 003 — Reconstruction Project South "E" Street from 5 -16th Street Not to exceed $147,833.50 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • PROJECT #R -33888 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS Change Order No. 004— Reconstruction Project South "E" Street from 5 -16th Street Not to exceed $148,903.00 Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • PROJECT #R -33888 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS Change Order No. 005— Reconstruction Project South "E" Street from 5 -16th Street Not to exceed $1,745.30 per lateral repair Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried.
