HomeMy Public PortalAbout2014_02_25_R024 Authorizing the TM to Execute Agreements for Relocation of Overhead Utilities for S King Street Widening The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: February 25, 2014 RESOLUTION NO 2014-024 ADOPTED: February 25, 2014 A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS FOR RELOCATION OF OVERHEAD UTILITIES FOR THE SOUTH KING STREET WIDENING PHASE II PROJECT WHEREAS,the South King Street Widening Phase II project is a fully funded Capital Project which is financed through the Virginia Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS,the Town is required to facilitate the overhead utility relocations; and WHEREAS,the Town has received preliminary estimates from the utility companies for the relocation work; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Town's Capital Improvement Program Policies and Procedures, Town Council authorization is required for the Town to enter agreements that exceed$100,000; and WHEREAS,the estimates received are above the authorization level of the town manager as listed below: • Dominion Virginia Power $236,801.00 • Verizon Virginia, LLC $404,354.00; and WHEREAS,the utility relocations represent the initial phase of construction and must be completed prior to beginning the actual roadway improvements; and WHEREAS,the utility relocation costs are within the existing approved budget and no additional funding is requested. -2- A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS FOR RELOCATION OF OVERHEAD UTILITIES FOR THE SOUTH KING STREET WIDENING PHASE II PROJECT THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Manager is authorized to execute agreements with Dominion Virginia Power and Verizon Virginia, LLC for relocation of overhead utility lines for the South King Street Widening Phase II project.
