A RESOLUTION: AMENDING THE FY2014 BUDGET AND MAKING A SUPPLEMENTAL
APPROPRIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FROM UNASSIGNED
FUND BALANCE TO THE GENERAL FUND TO REFILL THE PUBLIC
WORKS SALT STORAGE FACILITY
WHEREAS,the Public Works Department salt storage facility is only one quarter(1/4) full
after the multiple snow and ice events of this past winter; and
WHEREAS, one thousand five hundred (1,500)tons of salt are needed to refill the two
thousand(2,000)ton salt storage facility at a current cost of$100,000; and
WHEREAS, funds budgeted for salt in FY2015 will purchase only four hundred(400)tons of
salt; and
WHEREAS, it is good emergency planning and preparation to start the 2014/2015 winter
season with a full salt supply,
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
FY2014 General Fund Operating Budget is hereby amended and a supplemental appropriation is made
in the amount of$100,000 for the Department of Public Works to refill the salt storage facility.
