HomeMy Public PortalAboutPleasant Bay Alliance -- 2009-05-05 MinutesPleasant Bay Alliance Steering Committee Meeting Minutes May 5, 2009 Attendees: Harry Herrick, Chuck Bartlett, Jane Hams, Judith Bruce, Allin Thompson, Chris Miller, Larry Ballantine Muddy Creek -The Wetlands Restoration Program has come up with $8-10,000 for hydrodynamic scenazio runs. They can contract directly with John Ramsey at ACRE. ACRE is prepazing a quote for the Program. Jeremy Bell asked if the Alliance could pay for surveying in the tide gages and a channel cross sections. The Steering Committee agreed to fund up to $1,500 to pay either ACRE or another firm to conduct the survey work. The Watershed work group has reviewed the RFP for the fertilizer program. The RFP asks consultants to research other programs and develop an outreach and education campaign. There is no amount budgeted, and we will see what fums come back with. DEP hopes to have its study of the fertilizer leaching rate completed by end of June. Carole has been asked to meet with the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative in June to review the work to date on the fertilizer and Muddy Creek grants. The Steering Committee voted to authorize Carole to submit the RFP to the Town of Chatham to be issued. Coastal processes -Alliance has been asked to comment on a shoreline stabilization proposal by Eastward Ho!. This will be discussed at the next work group meeting. A letter will be ready for the Steering Committee at its next meeting. The Pleasant Bay Symposium program is set, with Ted Keon, Graham Giese, Roy Okurowski, and Rob Thieler. The Symposium is June 18~' at 7 pm at the Community Center. Carole met with Chatham Waterways Committee and secured a support letter for the No Discharge Area application. The next meeting is with Harwich Waterways Committee on May 12~'. The Steering Committee agreed that Selectmen should also be updated on the application. The Committee provided authorization to submit the application pending Harwich waterways committee support, and letters from the Harwich, Chatham, Orleans and Brewster Boards of Selectmen.
