HomeMy Public PortalAboutEXECUTIVE ORDER - COVID19 Re-Opening Parks, Playgrounds, and City Hall May 30, 2020May 30, 2020 Re: Executive Order Re -Opening Parks, Playgrounds and Community Gathering Spots in the City of Riverdale My Fellow Residents: As you know, the playgrounds, gazebo, park shelters, Council Chambers and Community Room at City Hall have been shut down for the past two months as precautions against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This move was our part in the worldwide effort to try and slow the community spread of the virus and allow our healthcare system to manage the influx of patients they were bound to see as a result of infection. While the coronavirus epidemic is still among us — and is likely to be a lingering health threat for months to come — the governor of the State of Iowa has started to relax the restrictions we have all been living under for the past 60-90 days. In that vein, I have been asked by the City Council to consider relaxing some of the restrictions on city facilities here in Riverdale and allow our residents to enjoy the community's recreational assets. I am, therefore, re -opening the parks, playgrounds and community gathering spots in Riverdale to general public use, effective Monday, June 1, 2020. These community assets will, however, operate under a revised set of guidelines that will restrict their use to limited hours and require citizens to agree to help sanitize facilities when they are through using them for gatherings. These new guidelines will be prominently posted in the parks, at City Hall and on the City's website (www.riverdaleiowa.com) the week of June 1. Please make sure you familarize yourself with these guidelines and do your part to keep our parks and playgrounds safe and clean spaces everyone can enjoy. Please continue to follow developments of this and other Riverdale -related news on our website: www.riverdaleiowa.com and through our weekly e-newsletter. Stay safe and healthy — we'll be seeing you soon! Yours Sincerely, Mike Bawden Mayor City of Riverdale, Iowa 110 Manor Drive, Riverdale, Iowa 52722 • (563) 355-2511 • www.riverdaleiowa.com
