RESOLUTION NO. 2014-125 ADOPTED December 9, 2014
A RESOLUTION: REDISTRIBUTION OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2015 VIRGINIA
COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS LOCAL GOVERNMENT
CHALLENGE GRANT
WHEREAS, the Town Council authorized staff to apply for a local government
challenge grant through the Virginia Commission for the Arts in March 2014; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Virginia
Commission for the Arts that includes a$5,000 match from the Town of Leesburg making a
total of$10,000 available for distribution; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council awarded funding in the following amounts to these
five organizations: $4,000 to Bluemont, $2,000 to the Loudoun Lyric Opera, $2,000 to
VSAarts of Loudoun County, $1,000 to the Loudoun Chorale, and $1,000 to Art Square; and
WHEREAS, Art Square is no longer able to accept the grant award; and
WHEREAS,the Leesburg Commission on Public Art recommends that the $1,000 be
awarded to Friends of Leesburg Public Arts.
THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Town Council authorizes Town staff to distribute $1,000 to Friends of Leesburg Public
Arts as recommended by the Leesburg Commission on Public Art.
