HomeMy Public PortalAbout07/03/1962 CCMREGUKAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MEDINA JULY 3,1962 Meeting called to Order at 8 PM by Mayor Scoot. All council members present. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 5,1962 Were read. Motion by Arens to adopt minutes as read ;second by Gerta, motion carried. Minutes othe the Board of Review meeting were read. Motion by Winterhalter to adopt minutes as read, second by Gettz, motion carried. Mayor Scoot read a letter from Richard Whitten concerning what he felt was amity need for more commercial land in the village and asking that the Striebel property he now owns be re -zoned to commercial. The mayor said he had talked to Whitten and asked him if the had a specific reason for re=zoning at this time, he had not and it was suggested to him that he wait until such time occured before petioning for rezoning. Letter foom Railroad and Wheehouse commission was read concering the hearing to be held at the Hamel depot on September 5,1962 at 10: a.m. Mayor Scott read a letter from the Highway department concerning the mel Sherman driveway. It stated that the County did not feel they were at fault in causing this problem. Motion by Gerty to permit Roehlke to install a sign on County Road 19 for Lakeview second by Arens, motion carried. Residents of the beach area reported that water skiers were sking through the area where children were swiming, after comsiderable midi discussion on the matter Winterhalter made a motion to authorize Leo Leuer to make the necessary purchases and use the necessary help to put up the safety markers at Independence Beach, and to make a sign for the boat landing area, second by Arens, motion carried. The Clerk reported that he had talked to Rochie Begin who feels he has nothing to do with the Dorn water problem any more. After some discussion the council agreed that Begin had made statements before the council KKK that were misleading and should keep this in mind. The building inspect6r was instructed to bring any further requests for building permits from Begin before the council. The Clerk reported the as far as he knew the signers on the Steinke bond were satisfactory, motion by Arens to accept the Steinke bond, second by Winterhalter, motion carried. A special hearing had been held on the re=zoning of the Wolsfield Lake area and it was recommended by the planning commission to rezone this area from POC t6 RA and R1. It was indicated at the planning commission meeting that the Park Board had lost interest in the area. Motion by Gertz to ;amend the Village Zoning map to designate that those parts of Sections 22 and 27 previously zoned as Public Open Development and conservation and reclamation districts to RA and R1. districts, second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Motion by Roehl to set the price of the Legion beer license at $25.00, second by Arens , motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to grant Robert Feser a non -intoxication malt ligour license to be pro=rated on a 7 month basis,$35.00 for on -sale, $5.00 for off sale., second by Gertz, motion carried. Leo deuer reported on the condition of meander lane, stating that it needed gravel, the council will contact the platter to have this road put in shape. Village audit reprtrt was presented by Hebb Perry. Motion by Winterhalter that the Village Administrati¢e officials be paid annually at the meeting in December, second by Gertz, motion carried. A proposed cattle pass at Alfred Klaers farm was discussed, it was reported that the cost would be approximately $1,000.00. Motion by Arens to appoint Walte$ Kohnen for the unexpired term of Ella Christensen to the planning commission, second by Gertz, motion carried. Mayor suggested a bulletin board with glass front for the village hall, he had an estimate of $25.00 from Don Deslauriers. Motion by Winterhalter to autorize construction of bulletin board of suitable size, second by Arens, motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to buy shirt, pants cap, nite stick, flash lite for 4 Civil Defense men, second by Herb Arens, motion carried. The four men are George Reiser, Gerald Reiser, Chuck Hoover and Al Meeks. Motion by Winterhalter to adjourn, second by Arens, motion carried.
