M. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Councilmen - Beckley, Briggs, Harker, Merritt, Tyrell ABSENT: Councilmen -None ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney Martin and City Manager Koski Mayor Tyrell called the attention of the Councilmen to a Symposium on Land Use, Planning & Assessment which is being held at the Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim, on Thursday, December 15, 1966. It was agreed that there should be City representation from the Council and Planning Commission if possible. The Councilmen will advise the staff at a later date which of them can attend. The item has been referred to the Planning Commission for their consideration. The City Manager presented a letter of request from the Chamber of Commerce for financial assistance to operate the Chamber of Commerce for the balance of the fiscal year.ending Dec. 31, 1966, Following discussion Councilman Harker moved to approve the request in the sum of $568,94, Councilman Merritt seconded, and the motion was unanimously carried. The Chamber of Commerce also requested an advance of $400. to operate the Chamber for the first part of 1967. Following discus- sion it was decided to hold this matter over to be considered at the regular meeting of the City Council on December 20, 1966. , Ordinance No. 66 -213, Business Licensing, was then consider- ed by the Council with reference to the fee schedule. The Council re- viewed a letter received from Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. where- by they requested modifications in the wording of the Ordinance. It was agreed by the Council that these changes would be made in the Ordinance. The proposed schedule of fees as part of the Business Licens Ordinance pertaining to the various classifications of businesses was reviewed by the Council. The following schedule was agreed upon: SECTION 6402.1 THROUGH 6402.5 1. For business classifications of: PROFESSIONALS, RETAILERS, WHOLESALERS, MANUFACTURERS, SERVICES PROPOSED FEE 0 - 3 Employees 4 - 6 Employees 7 - 10 • Employees 11 - 20 Employees 21 - and over Employees Maximum Fee SECTION 6402.6 2. For business classification of: CONTRACTORS $35. annually 38. 40. 45. 50. 50. 11 PROPOSED FEE a. All contractors contracting in this City less than $50,000. in gross receipts, on a cumulative basis, in any calendar year shall pay the following rate: $25.00 Annually 979 Council Minutes, November 15, 1966, page 2 b. All contractors contracting in this City $50,000. or more in gross receipts on a cumulative basis, in any calendar year shall pay the following rate: $50.00 Annually c. Contractors business license fees, calculated on a gross receipt basis and on the period basis of the calendar year, Section 6312 TCMC as it pertains to the prorating of fees, shall not be effective in the calculation of business license fees to be paid by contractors.
