HomeMy Public PortalAboutNauset School Comm Policy -- 9/30/2009 Minutes Policy Subcommittee ME— September 30, 2009 —4:00 PM Present: Plaue, Blackwell, Fleming, Guzzeau Absent: Enochty, Dugan Administration: Dr. Hoffmann, Baumhauer 1) Ms. Blackwell called the meeting to order at 4PM 2) There was no citizen speak 3) Dr. Hoffmann handed out various Transportation policies he had downloaded from the MASC website. He also handed out policies from Concord-Carlisle, Acton Boxboro, Hopkinton, and Nauset. 4) Ms Blackwell asked whether it made sense for the cmte to review the policies for the next meeting and highlight those sections that members wished to be included in a revised Nauset policy 5) Ms Plaue pointed out the Joint School Cmte. would have to approve any policy changes at their Dec 3 meeting. (5PM). She was also concerned that appropriate information appear in appropriate policies. (i.e.- Student applicable information such as bus conduct vs. bus contractor bid spec info) 6) The group discussed the eligibility requirement and agreed that the DESE will only reimburse for students living further than 1.5 miles from their school. The "door side" drop off policy was also discussed. Mr. Baumhauer to verify with First Student where this policy is in effect. 7) Dr. Hoffmann asked the group to review all of the policies he handed out and bring back their comments/issues for the next meeting. The goal is to take those sections that will work best for Nauset and use them to update the Nauset policies. 8) The subject of private roads was discussed. Dr. Hoffmann to investigate the subject with Town Administrators. 9) Dr. Hoffmann suggested that additional transportation policies might need to be developed/formalized for Nauset—(i.e. non idling policy, private/charter school transportation, bus accident procedure, overnight student travel, school choice student transportation, etc.) 10)The September 10 committee minutes were approved. The meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM. Next meeting scheduled for October 21 at 4:30 PM. Respectfully submitted Hans Baumhauer
