The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on July 3, 2012 at 6:01
p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Acting Mayor Elizabeth Weir presided.
I. ROLL CALL
Members present: Pederson, Siitari and Weir.
Members absent: Crosby (participated by telephone) and Martinson
Also present: City Planner Dusty Finke, Public Works Superintendent Steve Scherer,
Police Chief Ed Belland, Paul Kolias RJM Construction, Brian Recker RJM Construction,
Mark Wentzell 292 Design Group, and City Administrator Scott Johnson.
II. 600 Clydesdale Trail and Possible City Hall Renovation Project
Paul Kolias provided the City Council with an update on the project budget process. 292
Design Group has provided construction drawings for the renovations at 600 Clydesdale
Trail and City Hall. City Council discussed options for the project budget, including a jib
crane for Public Works, segregating bond funds for the project, the 2007 Kodet Study
that assumed $13 million for city facilities, and asked staff to research the financial
impact of the project on residents.
Council directed staff to keep the improvements to City Hall modest at this time and to
phase improvements to the facility over future phases. Staff was also directed by
Council to work with the consultants to put together a plan for Public Works and Police
at 600 Clydesdale Trail. Council requested cost cutting on the project and to bring back
a tighter project budget. The requested information and project will be brought back for
Council review at the July 17th Work Session.
V. ADJOURN
Acting Mayor Weir adjourned the Work Session at 6:45 p.m.
