HomeMy Public PortalAbout2015_10_27_R128 Designating Parking Areas on King Street as Short Term Parking and Loading The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: October 27,2015 RESOLUTION NO. 2015-128 ADOPTED: October 27,2015 A RESOLUTION: DESIGNATING TWO PARKING AREAS ON KING STREET BETWEEN LOUDOUN AND MARKET STREETS AS SHORT TERM PARKING AND LOADING WHEREAS,The Town Council approved the Downtown Improvement Project in September of 2010;and WHEREAS, the Downtown Improvement Project created two paved areas on King Street between Market and Loudoun Streets that are each forty-four feet long; and WHEREAS,these areas are located near the intersections with Market Street and Loudoun Street at both ends of the widened sidewalk area; and WHEREAS,the spaces could be utilized for either on-street parking, loading zones,or a combination of both; and WHEREAS,each of these forty-four foot areas can accommodate parallel parking of two automobiles. THEREFORE,RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the two, forty-four foot areas on King Street between Market and Loudoun Streets shall be: 1. Designated for short term parking and for the loading and unloading of passengers and commercial goods. 2. Marked on the pavement as typical parallel parking spaces indicating two spaces in each forty- four foot area. 3. Designated for short term parking not to exceed 20 minutes in length between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. 4. Legally signed for the intended use and no parking meters will be installed.
