Death: Ellen I. (kola
Ellen 1. Ikola was born in Lakefork on July 20, 1916. She passed away on Jan. 16, 2016 in McCall.
She attended grammar school in Norwood and high school in Donnelly, graduating as
valedictorian in 1934. She worked at the C.C. Anderson Store and later for the U.S. Post
i Office in McCall.
She and M. George Ikola were married in 1938, both working for Brown Tie and Lumber.
Their only son, Gerry Lee, was born in October 1947. Soon after, they moved to Horseshoe
Bend where George and his brother Elmer started Ikola Logging. They lived there for 9 years
making lifelong friends and many cherished memories.
In 1956 they returned to McCall where Ikola Logging continued to operate to this day. Ellen was the
primary bookkeeper for Ikola Logging for 68 years beginning in 1956.
Ellen was a dedicated member of numerous organizations. She was a charter member of the local
chapter of Daughters of the Nile, and very active member of Finnish Ladies Aid for most of her adult life.
She perhaps most enjoyed her membership in the Valerie Chapter of Eastern Stars In McCall, where
she was Worthy Matron in 1965. She loved traveling to Idaho Grand Chapter once a year throughout the
state, holding many Grand Chapter offices for many years.
Ellen took great pride in Gerry's and her grandchildren's many activities and accomplishments. She
and George especially enjoyed basketball games, but also attended baseball games, motorcycle races,
track meets and football games.
She will be missed by all who knew her, but more significantly by fellow members of Eastern Star,
Finnish Ladies Aid, the McCall Senior Center and the McCall Community Congregational Church. The
greatest void, of course, will be left in the lives of her loving family and close relatives.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Andrew Leaf and Mary Karki, siblings Bill Leaf, Edna
Ruska, Lillian McDougal, Ralph Leaf, Acel Leaf and Mary Johnson and her husband George.
She Is survived by her son Gerry Lee Ikola (Capella), grandchildren Erika Sussi (Jordan), Gerry
Andrew Ikola (Rachael) and Gabe Ikola and great grandchildren Erika Faith Ikola, Andrew Ikola and
Lordes Sussi.
A memorial service will be held at the McCall Community Congregational Church at 2 p.m. on
Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. Graveside services will follow at the Finnish Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Heikkila Funeral Chapel in McCall. A reception in celebration of
Ellen's life will begin at 3 p.m. at the McCall Senior Citizens Center.

M. George Ikola passed away
peacefully at his home on Friday,
Feb. 16, 2001, surrounded by his
loving family.
He was born Jan. 23, 1915, at
Sublet, Wyo., to
John G. and
Wendla Ruuska
IkoIa, the
youngest of
nine children.
The family
moved to Long
Valley, Idaho,
in 1918, where
they home-
s t e a d e d,
farmed and ranched for many
years. He attended schools in
McCall and Roseberry until 1930,
when he started working for Carl
Brown, owner of Brown's Tie and
Lumber.
George married Ellen Irene Leaf
of Lake Fork in 1938, and together
they shared an eventful life built
around their family logging
business.
Soon after the birth of their son
Gerry in 1947, they moved to
Horseshoe Bend, where he started
his own business for Hoff Lumber
Co. They spent nine years there
forming many lifetime friendships
and memories before returning to
the McCall area in 1956. He began
contract logging for Boise Cascade
Corporation in 1955 and continued
for nearly 45 years as owner of G.
Ikola Logging. He enjoyed working
in the woods and running the vari-
ous types of logging equipment. He
was recognized as one of the truly
gifted equipment operators of his
time.
In 1970, their only son, Gerry,
joined his father as a full -time part-
ner in the family business. Later
joined by Gerry's wife Capella, they
have all owned and operated G.
Ikola Logging to the present,
recently adding two of George's
grandchildren to the business oper-
ations. In his later years George
remained very involved in the busi-
ness, including mechanical repairs,
welding and overseeing other shop
activities.
One of his favorite hobbies was
making thousands of tamarack
fence posts that were sold to farm-
ers, ranchers and property owners
throughout the entire valley. He
enjoyed reading western novels for

as long as his vision allowed.
George was a 50 -year member
of Payette Lakes Lodge #81 AF &
AM, in McCall, a member of El
Korah Shrine and a Life member of
Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in
Boise.
His grandchildren were his ulti-
mate pride; he especially enjoyed
attending their many sports
activities.
Survivors include Ellen, his wife
of 63 years; their son, Gerry and
his wife, Capella; his grandchildren,
Erika, Gerry Andrew and Gabe, all
of McCall; his sisters, Alice Grant
and Edna Dukes of Coos Bay,
Ore., and Esther Rader of Boise;
and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death
by his parents; a sister, Fanny
Cate; and brothers, Richard,
Walter, Elmer and Johnny Ikola.
Services will be held at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the McCall
Community Congregational
Church. Viewings are scheduled
for today from 3 to 7 p.m. and
Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at
the Heikkila Funeral Chapel,
McCall.
The family suggests memorials
to the Finnish Church, c/o Hazel
Ruska, 1385 Elo Road, McCall
83638; or McCall Hospice, c/o
McCall Memorial Hospital, 1000
State St., McCall 83638.
Interment will be at the Finnish
Cemetery. Arrangements are under

Leland Walker like
On the morning of June 3, 2016, Leland passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Leland was being
visited and comforted by his wife Nora and many family members at the Marquis Care Center in Boise at
the time of his passing.
Leland was born in McCall on March 12, 1928, to Charles and Josephine Ilka,
0! Leland served In the Army during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge,
Leland worked on the family farm for many years.
Leland was married for the first and only time to Nora Bailey on July 22, 1988, at the age of
60.
Leland enjoyed gardening, fishing, bike riding, traveling and building mechanical things. Leland
designed and built his own bulldozer tractor.
Leland is survived by his wife Nora, nine stepchildren and several grandchildren and great -
grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Marquis Care Center, St. Luke's hospital
and the VA hospital for loving care and support.

Leonard C. Ilka
EMMETT Leonard C. Ilka,
64, of Emmett, died Friday, Jan.
25, 1991, in an Emmett hospital.
Funeral services will be held at
1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the
Emmett Seventh -day Adventist
Church. Pastor Keith Hanson
will officiate. Burial will follow
in the Emmett Cemetery,
Mr. Ilka was born Nov. 22,
1926, at McCall. He married Ber-
nice Ann Krekula in 1961 at Seat-
tle. They lived in McCall and
Boise. He had worked as a heavy
equipment mechanic, retiring in
1988. They moved to Emmett in
July of 1990.
Survivors include his wife of
Emmett; a son, Mel of Emmett; a
daughter, Debbie Ilka of Nampa;
• brother, Leland Ilka of McCall;
• cousin; and a niece. w

VELMA R. INGEBRETSEN
Velma R. Ingebretsen, 87,
McCall, died Tuesday, Jan. 12,
1993, at McCall Memorial
Hospital. Funeral services were con-
ducted on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1993,
at the Heikkila Funeral Chapel,
with Rev. Ron Clapp officiating.
Burial followed in the Morris Hill
Cemetery, Boise.
She was born at Brookings, S.
D., on April 22, 1905, She came to
Boise with her family in 1906 and
to Roseberry, Idaho, in 1907, where
she was raised and graduated from
the Roseberry High School.
She attended Albion State
College, receiving a life teaching
certificate and later attended the
College of Idaho. She taught
schools at Hillgrove and Norwood,
all in Long Valley. She also taught
in Orchard, Idaho, and Warren,
Idaho, where she met Walter E.
Jordan, whom she married in May
1930.
They had two children; a boy,
Thomas R. and a daughter, Darlene
R. Mr. Jordan died in Feb. 1950.
Velma married Harold E. "Bus"
Ingebretsen in March 1953. They
were married 38 years when Bus died
in January 1992.
Velma was a member of the
Eastern Star, Valeria Chapter,
McCall.
Surviving are a daughter and son -
in -law, Darlene and Sam Binder,
McCall; a son and daughter -in -law,
Thomas and Kathy Jordan, Billings,
Mont.; a step daughter and son -in-
law, Coleen and Wayne Ivey, Utah;
eight grandchildren, 14 great- grand-
children and one great - grandchild,
seven step - grandchildren, several
step - great- and great- great- grandchil-
dren.

HAROLD E. "BUS"
INGEBRETSEN
Harold E. "Bus" Ingebretsen, 85,
of McCall, died Friday, Jan. 3,
1992, in a McCall hospital. Funeral
services were conducted Tuesday,
Jan. 7, 1992, at Heikkila Funeral
Chapel with Bishop Douglas Bur-
nett officiating. Burial followed at
Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser.
He was born June 10, 1906, in
Weiser and was reared in Weiser.
During his younger years, he boxed
and wrestled as a young man under
the name of Buster Brown.
He married Mamie Grier in 1927
in Ogden, Utah. They were later
divorced. He came to McCall in
1930, where he operated Bus' Barber
Shop for 42 years, retiring in 1972.
He married Velma Jordan on March
9, 1953, in Boise. They were
married for 38 years.
He was a member of the Payette
Lake Masonic Lodge. He loved fish-
ing and bird hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Velma of
McCall; a daughter and her husband,
Coleen and Wayne Ivey of Portage,
Ind.; a brother, Paul of Pocatello;
seven grandchildren and 25 great -
grandchildren and one great- great-
grandchild.
Also surviving are a step- daugh-
ter and her husband, Darlene and
Sam Binder of McCall; a step -son
and his wife, Tom and Kathy Jordan
of Billings, Mont.; eight step -
grandchildren, 14 step- great - grand-
children and one step- great - great-
grandson.

FLORENCE
McILHENNY INGHAM
Florence McIlhenny Ingham, 94,
formerly of McCall, died Thursday,
March 21, 1991, in Honolulu,
Hawaii, of natural causes.
Services will be held at 2:30
p.m. today, March 28, 1991, at
Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale,
Calif. Burial will follow.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1896,
the daughter of Dr. Lott McIlhenny
and Lynn Harper McIlhenny. From
rural western Kansas, she moved to
Wichita early in this century and at-
tended high school there.
She married James King Ingham
on June 22, 1915, at age 18. The
couple had a daughter in Wichita be-
fore moving to California in 1923.
They settled in Pasadena in 1924,
where Mr. Ingham was active in in-
surance and civic affairs. A son was
born in Pasadena in 1936.
She traveled extensively in her
later years, circling the globe three
times. She had a summer home in
Corona del Mar and later a lake
home at Payette Lake, Idaho. Her
husband died 15 years ago, and she
moved to Honolulu in 1985 to be
near to her son.
She is survived by a daughter,
Peggy (Mrs. John W.) Ingham
Clemmer of McCall; a son, James
K. Ingham Jr. of Honolulu; four
grandsons, Jeff Clemmer of McCall,
Jack Clemmer of San Diego, Jim
Ingham III of Hawaii and Jeff Ing-
ham of Kailua, Oahu; a granddaugh-
ter, Jill (Mrs. Merrill) Saleen of
Weiser; three great- grandsons, Brent
and Ryan Clemmer of San Diego,
Calif., and Kelly Lylse Saleen; a
great - granddaughter, Carmerin Lynn
Saleen of Weiser; one sister,
Dorothy Trousdale of Newton,
Kan.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.

B.E. Ingram
Council
B.E. Ingram, 61, of Council,
died Saturday, March 21, 1992, in
a Boise hospital.
Memorial services will be held
at 3:30 p.m. today at the Council
Community Congregational
Church. The Rev. Wayne Freed-
man will officiate. Cremation is
under direction of the Cloverdale
Funeral Home and Crematory,
Boise.
B.E. was born Nov. 3, 1930, in
Marion County, Ark., a son of
Bascom and Audrey Lowrey In-
gram. He was raised in Arkansas,
and attended the University of
Arkansas. Mr. Ingram also at-
tended Arizona State and the Uni-
versity of Redlands where he re-
ceived a master's degree in
education.
B.E. served with the U.S. Navy
during the Korean Conflict. He
played pro - baseball with the St.
Louis Cardinals in the farm
system.
Mr. Ingram started his teaching
career in 1954 in Arkansas, and
also taught in Arizona and Cali-
fornia. He taught from the grade
school level to college. He also
had an extensive background in
business management. B.E. re-
tired in 1985 as superintendent of
schools in Ramona. Calif. Atter
traveling for two years, he and
his wife retired in Council to en-
joy the fishing and outdoors.
Mr. Ingram had been elected a
delegate to the state Democratic
Convention.
Survivors include his wife,
Catherine of Council; a son and
daughter -in -law, Bryan and Kyna
Ingram of San Francisco; a
daughter and son -in -law, J. Win-
ston and Daniel O'Rourke of Las
Vegas, Nev.; a granddaughter,
Jennifer Anne Ingram of Santa
Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Jack
Ingram of Summit, Ark., and
Gene Ingram of Kansas City, Mo.;
and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that me-

ho Bass Federation Scholarship
