HomeMy Public PortalAbout07/05/1961 CCMREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF ThE VILLAGE OF MEDINA JULY 5,1961 Members present were Gertz, Winterhalter, Scott and Roehl. Absent Arens. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 6,1961 and the adjourned meeting held June 20,1961 were read. Motion by Winterhalter to accept minutes as read, second by Gertz, Motion carried. Motion by Harold Winterhalter to propose resolution of sympaty to the Arens family and particularly councilman Arens on the death of his mother. Second by Arthur Gertz, motion carried. Bids for rental of road machingry were opened and read. Bids were as follows; .RamUmic Fashant Bros. Annandale, MinnG543.00 Bill Wear, Long Lake, 591.00 On and off sale beer liscense f2 applications from Leo J Feser and Earl Balderston were considered. Motion by Winterhalter to grant Leo J Feser and Earl Balderston on and off sale beer liscense, 2nd by Roehl, Motion carried. Request from Glenwood Chamber of Commerce to oppose the Soo Line Railroads request for discontinuance of 2 passenger trains was referred to Northwest Suburban Chamber of Commerce. Motion By Arthur Gertz to send resolution to State Highway Department and Hennepin County Highway Department for a pressure type semaphore to be installed at intersection of County Road 19 and State Highway #55. Second by Winterhalter, Motion carried. Motion by Arthur Gertz to grant Raymond Lenzen a dance hall permit for July 5,1961 to June 3001962, Second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to transfer beer liscense and dance permit from Raymond Lenzen to Mabel Elms. Greiner, Second by Roehl, Motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to approve transfer tf Off Sale Liqour liscense held by Raymond Lenzen to Mabel Elna Griener to be come effective Da 10 days after they have become residents of Medina Village, Second by Roehl, motion carried, all yes. The junked autos on the Dobozenska property was discussed. Motion by Roehl to have Mayor Scott contact Mr. Dobozenski and determine his plans and proceed from there. Second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Northern States Power Co estimate for street lites in the Beach area were as follows; 440.00 annually per 6000 lumen lamp and 50.00 annually per 10,000 lumen lamp. Lotion by Winterhalter to instruct Northern Mlipi States Power to install $ Stueet lites in the Independence Beach area, Northern States to engineer location of these lites. second by Arthur Gertz, potion carried. Mayor Scott reported on engineer Carters inspection of roads in the Beach area, the engineer recommended an extensive job, to include complete grading and widing of roads, 5 inch gravel base and 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches of blacktop. Estimated cost of this project would be $25,000.00. motion by Winterhalter to hold a special meeting on July 18,1961 to discuss the beach roads, second by Gerta, Motion carried. Motion by Winterhalter to grant the police force a uniform allowance of $50.00 per man per year, 425.00 to be paid in spring and 425.00 in fall, enitial allowance of $25.00 for a new man, second by Roehl, motion carried. Bottle cluba permits discussion was postponed until next regular meeting. Motithn by Winterhalter to accept the hourly bid of Fashant Bros. Second by Roehl, motion carried. Motion by Winerhalter to review situation at Dobozenske junk yard at next regular meeting, second by Gertz, motion carried. Ed Hall appeared to complAin about an outdoor toilet close to his property. Motion by Roehl to transfer from the General fund '400.00 to the Debt redemption fund and $100.00 to Recreation fund. Second by Gertz, motion carried. Payroll checks issued in the amount of 4627.13, order checks $3 , Receipts $6, 270.53 . Balance all funds $13 , $23.93 • ✓t g % 7 V 9• . t' Motion by Gertz to adjourn, Scond by Roehl, Motion Carried.
