DETERMINING THE AMOUNT TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION
_ FOR SCHOOL PUI~POSES FOR THE 1996-1997 SCHOOL YEAR
WHEREAS, the local tax levy for the 1996-1997 budget of the
Board of Education of the Borough of Carteret in the sum of ~'
$16,852,653 was submitted to and rejected by the voters of
Carteret, and the Governing Body of said municipality after
consultation with the Board of Education of the District,
does hereby determine the amount which in its judgement is
necessary to provide a thorough and efficient system of
education in the local school district, and to the Middlesex
County Board of Taxation the totals of the amount necessary
pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A: 22-37; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that excess in the
amounts stated exist in the following accounts:
11-000-230-331 Legal $ 25,000.00
11-000-260-520 Insurance 45,000.00
11-000-260-100 Salaries-Custodians 50,000.00
11-000-240-105 Salaries-Clerical 30,000.00
11-120-100-101 Salaries-Teachers 33,334.00
11-130-100-101 Salaries-Teachers 33,~33.00
11-140-100-101 Salaries-Teachers 33,333.00
Total $250r000-00
and
WHEREAS, reductions in said accounts kotaling $250,000 will
not impact on the Board of Education's ability to provide a
;horough and efficient education
~OW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY HESOLVED by the
Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret, in the County of
Middlesex, and the State of New Jersey, that the amount which
it determines in its judgement necessary to be raised by
taxation to provide a thorough and efficient system of
schools in the Local School District is $16,602,653 for the
1996-1997 School Year;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there be raised, approved and
collected for the School District of said Borough during the
~year 1996 the following items:
January 1, 1996 to June 30, 1996 $ 7,895,864.00
July 1, 1996 to December 31, 1996 8,301,326.50
-- Total Amgunt to be raised by taxation $16t197r190.50
HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said aggregate sum of
$16,197,190.50 be certified immediately by the Municipal
Clerk to the Middlesex County Board of Taxation, the Board of
Education of the School District of the Borough of Carteret,
the County Superintendent of Schools, the Assessor and Tax
Collector of the Borough.
