A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AN AMENDMENT TO THE TOWN CODE TO EXPAND
SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES IN THE TOWN OF LEESBURG
WHEREAS, Town of Leesburg created certain snow emergency routes in its downtown
area; and
WHEREAS, the Town Code requires those snow emergency routes to be cleared of parked
vehicles to allow quick, safe and efficient clearing of snow and ice in the public right of way; and
WHEREAS, after the winter snowstorm in early 2016, Town staff evaluated additional steps
that could be taken to increase the effectiveness of the Town's winter weather clearing process and
identified limited maneuverability of snow plow trucks in certain areas because of parked vehicles;
and
WHEREAS, the addition of certain streets to the Town's list of snow emergency routes will
increase the speed and effectiveness of the snow and ice clearing effort.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia to hold a
public hearing to pass an ordinance to amend the Town Code to add street sections to the existing
list of snow emergency routes.
