ORDINANCE 2006 -15
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING MAINTENANCE OF PROPERTIES AND
STRUCTURES
WHEREAS, former Greencastle Code 10 -144 set out the requirements for the maintenance of
properties within the City's jurisdiction.
WHEREAS, that the above section was deleted when the City recodified its zoning
ordinance.
WHEREAS, the property maintenance requirements should be listed in the Public Health and
Safety Matters chapter of the Greencastle Code, rather than in the zoning ordinance.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that
it hereby incorporates Section 10 -144 into chapter 6, with the following changes and additions:
• Sec. 4-0 6 -144. Maintenance of Properties and Structures.
a. All properties shall at all times be maintained and used only in a clean, neat, well -
groomed condition, free from all natural and man -made debris, droppings, junk, rubbish,
trash, weeds, and the like. All structures shall at all times be erected, located and maintained
in a whole, safe, sound condition; any structure that is damaged or destroyed by fire, storm,
or other act of nature or man shall be restored to whole, safe, sound condition (or wholly
removed) within ninety (90) days of the transaction or occurrence causing its damage or
destruction.
b. Enforcement of subsection a., above, shall be governed by Sections 6 -70
through 6 -72 of the Greencastle Code.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle Common
Council and its approval by the Mayor.
