A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING TOWN OF LEESBURG TRANSPORTATION PROJECT
PRIORITIES
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation will be conducting a Northem
Virginia Transportation Public Meeting at the Virginia Department of Transportation District
Office, Fairfax, Virginia to obtain public comments on transportation projects and priorities; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the Town's transportation priorities be established for
funding consideration by the Virginia Department of Transportation for urban system and
primary system projects.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The Town of Leesburg Urban System Priority transportation projects are:
Priority Project
1 Battlefield Parkway (South King Street to Dulles Greenway)
2 Sycolin Road Widening Phase IV (south of Tolbert Lane to south corporate
limits)
3 Evergreen Mill Road Widening (South King Street to Battlefield Parkway)
SECTION II. The Town of Leesburg Primary System Priority transportation projects are
as follows:
Priority Project
1 East Market Street & Battlefield Parkway Interchange
2 Route 15 Bypass/Edwards Ferry Road Interchange
3 Battlefield Parkway/Route 15 Bypass Interchange; note that there is a VDOT

funding study underway that the Leesburg Council has not received. It is expected
the analysis will outline and reprioritize a comprehensive set of regional
transportation projects urgently needed to alleviate the severe gridlock at the Route 15
Bypass and Battlefield Parkway intersection.
4 Route 7/15 Bypass Widening from South King Street to East Market Street
5 Route 7 Leesburg Bypass Widening from South King Street to West Market
Street
SECTION III. The Town of Leesburg requests that the Virginia Department of
Transportation include and fund the Town's priority transportation projects in its Six Year
Transportation Program:
