A RESOLUTION:
AUTHORIZING THE CLERK OF THE COUNCIL TO COMMENCE PUBLIC
ADVERTISEMENT FOR PERSONS INTERESTED IN SERVING ON TOWN
COUNCIL FOR AN INTERIM PERIOD
WHEREAS, the Town Council is interested in soliciting professional resumes and letters of
interest from qualified voters who desire to serve on the Council for an interim period; and
WHEREAS, the Council will appoint a Council member to fill the vacancy that will be created
when Vice Mayor Kelly Burk becomes Mayor on January 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the intended term of the appointment will run from January 2017 until a special
election is held in the year 2017; and
WHEREAS, the candidate selected at the special election will serve the remainder of Vice Mayor
Burk's Council term which ends on December 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, interested persons are asked to submit a confidential letter of interest and
professional resume addressed to the Clerk of the Council for consideration by Town Council no later
than noon on Wednesday. December 21, 2016.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Clerk
of the Council is authorized to commence public advertisement for persons interested in serving on the
Town Council for an interim period that is intended to run from January 2017 until a special election is
held in either the spring of 2017 or on the date of the general election, November 8, 2017.
