Hope you both have a great weekend -weather is supposed to be very nice and warm! Moe ALL CITIZENS ACCESS COMMITTEE OF BREWSTER March 19, 2010 The meeting began at 2:OOpm. Members present: Christine Glasheen, Brian Ladley, Robert Steinmann Maureen Steinmann Members absent: Jean Sears, Denise Rego Members acknowledged acceptance of February 19, 2010 meeting minutes. The chair checked that everyone had completed their State Ethics Commission online program. All members present had. Maureen r~nentioned that today she had turned in the 2nd part of the committee's accessibility review of Brewster to the town manager, selectmen, and interested parties. The committee had agreed to do this earlier than planned because this section of our report deals with Brewster's major recreational sites (with the exception of the Captain's Golf Course) and ocean beaches. The committee felt it important to have the town manager and selectmen aware of our thoughts and ideas re accessibility at our beaches so if they do have to make plans due to the current erosion problems, our input will be there. A review of the town's ponds is the next and last part of our report. The committee members want to continue receiving the emails forwarded to them by the Chair. These emails are from CORD, committees from other towns, the Mass Office on Disability, etc. They keep us informed re accessibility issues on the Cape and statewide. The Chair mentioned the meeting on March 30 set up by CORD re independent living at home. Maureen and Robert Steinmann will be attending. The committee also discussed other places to hold their meetings as parking at the COA is very limited on Friday afternoons. Suggestions included meeting at the Library or at Town Hall. No changes will be made until the fall of 2010. The committee's web site info was discussed. The site should include our mission statement, members info, committee meeting info, accessibility notes of interest to Brewster residents and visitors, links to ADA information sites in particular the ADA Guide for Small Towns and the ADA Guide for Small Business, links to our survey and our subsequent review and recommendations. The site should contain a contact number for anyone wishing to comment on accessibility issues in Brewster. Projects for next year were discussed. Following upon our survey recommendations as well as compiling a list of accessible places to visit in Brewster including restaurants and businesses for the JAM Accessibility Directory for Cape Cod was mentioned. More to come. r~~ The meeting adjourned at 2:45pm. Respectfully submitted by Maureen Steinman.; ~~~~ :si 'T 1 .M ;~ r...:~ ~.~:~ ~; r~:.; 4/29/2010 r~
