Meeting Minutes for May 21, 2010
The meeting was convened at the Long Pond beach area off of Crowell's Bog Road at 2pm.
Members present: Denise Rego, Jean Sears, Brian Ladley, Christine Glasheen,
Robert Steinmann, Maureen Steinmann
The April 16, 2010 meeting minutes were accepted.
Committee business was held before beginning our on-site reviews of Long Pond, Sheep Pond, Upper
Mill Pond and the Herring Run/Gristmill area.
It was noted that the Police Dept. had purchased several handicap parking signs and was in the
process of delivering them to local businesses.
George Bausch from the Recreation Commission asked our committee for its input re an accessible
path to an accessible portable bathroom facility at the recreation fields out on Freemans Way. The
Steinmanns will do this.
Beach Accessibility information sheets are a work in progress according to the Chair.
It was noted by the Chair that the kayak rack at Long Pond was back again this year, blocking the only
wheelchair access to the beach area. The Chair will email Wendy Allegrone to see if it can be moved.
Finished with regular business matters, the committee members then proceeded with their on-site
accessibility review of each of the above-mentioned ponds as well as the Herring Run/Grist Mill area.
The meeting ended in the Upper Mill Pond beach area at 3:45pm.
