Leesburg R.O.C.K. Program Receives Donations for Annual
Holiday Party
Leesburg, VA (January 7, 2013) – The Leesburg
Parks and Recreation Department’s R.O.C.K.
(Recreation Outreach to Community Kids)
program hosted its Annual Holiday Party on
December 20, 2012, at the Ida Lee Park
Recreation Center.
The holiday party was made possible through
generous donations and assistance from the
Lending a Hand Foundation, the Leesburg
Optimist Club and the Leesburg Police
Department.
Based in Franklin, Virginia, Lending a Hand Foundation focuses on having a positive impact in
the community by providing needy families with hearty meals on Thanksgiving Day. Lending a
Hand catered the holiday party dinner for the R.O.C.K. children and their families. In addition,
the Leesburg Optimist Club generously donated money to purchase stuffed toys and candy
canes for the children at the party.
“The R.O.C.K. holiday party was a great success,” said Darnell Lee, Community Outreach
Program Supervisor. “We especially appreciate the assistance of Leesburg Police Officers
Tidmore and Winkler in transporting the children and their families and with arranging Santa
Claus’s attendance at the party.”
“It was great to see Mayor Umstattd in attendance to wish the ROCK kids and their families a
happy holiday,” he added.
