Held Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at the Brewster Towr.~ Hall, Meeting Room C
Voting Members present: Marc Weiss, Chair; Andi Genser, Eric Levy, Jack Clarke, Richard Koch
The meeting was called to order at 4:35.
Reports and Discussion:
-School Activity: Jack Clarke provided information concerning his contact with Catherine King, the
School Outreach coordinator at MDOT. She reported that Stony Brook is already a Safe Routes
partner school. They were our only Brewster partner up until last week. I have reached out to her,
but have not heard back yet. I understand, however, that Stony Brook is K-2 so therefore would
only be eligible for the Pedestrian Safety education through WalkBoston,
Jack met with Keith Gauley, the principal at the Eddy School and they are now a Safe Routes
partner. Principal Gauley expressed interest in having the Bicycle Safety education classes that we
offer through MassBike for grades 4 and up, possibly ira the spring. Jack added them to a wait list,
awaiting word on who is taking over the teaching of those sessions.
-Signage: The BOS were presented with our initial signage plan and Bob Bersin submitted a
proposal to the Historic District Commission. That proposal is on hold waiting for abutter
information. Jillian Douglas agreed to present our proposal to the-Cape Cod Regional Transit
Authority at their next meeting on Nov. 10`". They have funding available to create transit
enhancements throughout Cape Cod including bike racks and signage.
-6a road/sidewalk improvements: Chief Koch reported that if and when the Brewster road and
sidewalk improvements get funded, the sidewalk improvements will be scaled back from the initial
east to west town coverage, mainly replacing and improving existing sidewalks.
-Committee membership: A potential new member, Ruby Anastsio ,attended the meeting and will
fill out the required paperwork. We hope to see her at our next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 pm. The next meeting of the Bikeways Committee will be on
Tuesday December 7 at 4:30 pm, at the Police Station.
