Holmes SLATE Executive Director Stacey Fowler MSD Project Lead Purpose The program was developed pursuant to help women, minorities and economically disadvantaged adults prepare for, skill up and enter the construction industry, with a particular focus on employment in the Sewer Construction. The BUD Program is centered around: 1) Training 2) Employment 3) Compliance Program Overview Consistent with the needs and requirements specified by MSD, the BCTC team led by SLATE will include at a minimum - Operating Engineers Local 513 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Craft Laborer Joint Apprenticeship Training Program St Louis Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Plumbers and Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Iron Workers Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Bricklayers Local 1 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Target Applicants Minority and women graduates of construction apprenticeship programs who were placed in the construction industry but due to economic circumstances facing the sector are currently unemployed Previous minority and women graduates of pre - apprenticeship programs who were never employed in construction, who are currently unemployed or underemployed in an unrelated industry, but who meet program eligibility requirements and who aspire to careers in construction New recruits for the construction trades. Program Activities Soft and basic skill updates and sewer construction specific skills training that will enhance job readiness and lead to enhanced and marketable skills, including GED completion, if needed. Participants will be evaluated via scheduled and non-scheduled case management visits at training and worksites, weekly attendance, progress reports and employers' feedback. Summary of the project, tasks and accomplishments, lessons learned and recommendations for improvements will be internally reported monthly and to MSD on a quarterly basis.
