Pospisil Shelton Foundation Advised Fund announced 18 grants totaling almost $36,000 that benefit Valley County and surrounding areas. Recipients are: • Cascade Lake 4-H Camp: $1,000 to replace the mattresses in cabins that are at least 30 years old. • Central Idaho Historical Museum: $2,000 to stain and preserve the deteriorating logs of the historic Fire Warden's and Assistant Fire Warden's houses, both of which are on the National Register of Historic Places. • Idaho Meth Project: $2,000 to support two "Free Family Forums for Parents, 'Tweens and Teens," workshops conducted in two communities in Valley County in 2013. • Idaho Public Television: $3,000 to provide public television services to Valley County through the No Business Mountain translator. • Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Inc.: $1,000 to support educational outreach programs for K-12 youth in Valley County and the surrounding areas. • McCall Arts & Humanities Council: $4,584 to implement Art School, a program that places 10 local professional artists in five fifth -grade and five third -grade classrooms in rural schools in and near McCall to share an in-depth experience of arts education. • McCall Community Improvement Corp.: $200 to support the new Centennial Plaza in downtown McCall. • McCall Public Library: $1,400 to purchase materials for the 'Block Play Story Time" program at McCall Public Library, including books, storage units, block play related books, and math and language materials for the enhanced story times. • McCall Recreation Department: $1,200 to purchase masks, fins, snorkels and wetsuits for youth for the Recreation Department's new youth snorkeling program. • McCall Senior Citizens Center: $3,000 to replace the vinyl floor in the kitchen to allow the floor to be cleaned to health standards, and to prevent kitchen help from falling on the curled surfaces or cracks. • MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter: $2,000 to partition, repair and increase the functionality of outside exercise corrals for adoptable dogs. • Payette Lakes Community Association: $500 to improve the current selection of the After School Program's books and games, to provide healthy snacks, and for fees and transportation associated with the Lifestyles Curriculum. • Payette Lakes Ski Club: $3,000 to implement the Little Ski Hill After School Program by funding ski instructors and providing scholarship funds to needy youth. • Rose Advocates: $5,000 to purchase supplies, new brochures, telephone and Internet service and mileage . • Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary: $2,000 to fund the intern program, which is important to the educational success of college interns and to Snowdon's overall programs • St. Luke's McCan Foundation: $1,000 to provide free health screenings to the public for prostate cancer, diabetes, skin cancer and hypertension. • University of Idaho Foundation: $2,500 to underwrite program costs for outdoor science programs that serve McCall and Donnelly elementary schools, including outdoor science week, winter survival and team building programs so schools can attend at affordable prices • Valley County Juvenile Probation Services: $400 to purchase composting and farmer's market supplies, replace garden tools, and promote the program. The Shelton Fund was created in 2005 from a family foundation started by Perc and Gladys Shelton, who were long-time McCall residents. Distributions are made primarily to nonprofit charitable organizations and government entities, including schools for projects that benefit Valley County. Distributions are made primarily to nonprofit charitable organizations and government entities, including schools. Organizations do not have to be based in Valley County, but projects must benefit Valley County. Recipients are: • Central Idaho Historical Museum (McCall): $1,500 to provide an ambassador/host/docent for the museum and site • Heartland Hunger and Resource Center, Inc. (McCall): $2,000 to help purchase a combination walk- in cooler/freezer for the future food bank building in McCall • Idaho Public Television (Boise): $1,000 to help Idaho Public Television provide broadcasting services to McCall and Donnelly • McCall Arts and Humanities Council (McCall): $2,500 to implement Art School in 2014, a program that places 10 local professional artists in five fifth -grade and five third -grade classrooms in rural schools in and near McCall to share an in-depth experience of arts education • McCall Folklore Society (McCall): $1,500 to conduct a two -week music and dance samba residency for 75 McCall -Donnelly third -graders, culminating with the opportunity to perform samba music in the McCall Winter Camival parade • McCall Music Society, Inc. (McCall): $1,000 to provide educational and interactive classical music programming for youth and their families • McCall Senior Citizens, Inc. (McCall): $3,000 to replace the vinyl tile floor in the center's kitchen with an epoxy floor system for health and safety reasons • McCall -Donnelly Education Foundation (McCall): $1,000 to implement a school garden and expand the nutrition curriculum at Donnelly Elementary School • McCall -Donnelly School District (Donnelly): $1,000 to purchase Nordic skis for Donnelly Elementary School • MCPAWS, Inc. (McCall): $2,000 to purchase medical laboratory equipment and enhance the quality of medical care provided to dogs and cats in need • Mentoring Youth Supporting Teens (McCall): $1,500 to buy basic supplies for the Yellow Couch Teen Center and purchase materials to increase safety of the environment • Payette Lakes Community Association, Inc. (McCall): $500 to support programs not covered by a grant from the McCall -Donnelly Education Foundation such as robotics, healthy snacks, and scholarships for families unable to pay the fee for the program • Payette Lakes Ski Club (McCall): $3,000 to support the after -school ski program for youth • ROSE Advocates (Weiser): $4,000 to pay for supplies, phone use, rent of McCall office and provide mileage funds for travel between McCall and Cascade offices as well as client transportation when needed • Shepherd's Home, Inc. (McCall): $4,000 to ensure that the doors are open when children are in need • Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc. (McCall): $2,000 to provide modest stipends to intems, support their room and board while they reside at Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary, and provide a vehicle to rescue animals and travel to programs • University of Idaho Foundation (Moscow): $3,000 to support the McCall Outdoor Science School by underwriting program costs for outdoor science programs that serve McCall and Donnelly elementary schools, including outdoor science week, winter survival, and team building programs so schools can attend • Wilderness Science Education, Inc. The Shelton Fund was created in 2004 from a family foundation started by Perc and Gladys Shelton, who were long-time McCall residents. Distributions are made primarily to nonprofit charitable organizations and government entities, including schools. Recipients are: Cascade Food Pantry, Inc. - $500 to defer transportation costs for picking up food at the Idaho Food Bank every two weeks Central District Health Department (McCall) - $1,500 to pay for the cost of child/teen vaccine administration fees and for teen pregnancy prevention and healthy relationship incentives and promotional efforts primarily in Valley County. Disabled Sports USA (McCall) - $750 to purchase of a mono -ski for disabled skiers. Donnelly Elementary School - $1,000 to implement the early language teaming program, Espanol Rapido. Family Advocates, Inc. (Boise) - $2,500 to increase CASA services and strengthen community relationships in Valley County. Heartland Hunger and Resource Center, Inc. (McCall) - $2,000 to purchase a commercial reach -in freezer to replace three outdated chest freezers. Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs, Inc. (Boise) - $1,500 to provide Valley County youth living with type 1 diabetes and their families the opportunity to meet other local families with diabetes and team about Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs' Hodia camps. Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Inc. (Boise) - $1,000 to support the 2014-2015 Valley County portion of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's educational outreach tours, Idaho Theater for Youth and Shakespearience, which travel to elementary and secondary schools, during the academic year. Lee Pesky Leaming Center (Boise) - $2,000 to train kindergarten teachers in the McCall -Donnelly School District on math activities that support common core curriculum in their classrooms. McCall Music Society, Inc. - $1,000 to start a strings program in McCall -Donnelly schools in the fall of 2015. McCall Public Library - $1,423 to purchase equipment to scan, catalog and electronically store the library's newspaper collection from 1862 to 2013 to protect and preserve the collection for public use. McCall Senior Citizens, Inc. - $2,000 to update computer and operating systems, to improve security measures, increase efficiency and incorporate a digital tracking method for administrate requirements. McCall Ski Racing Team - $2,000 to provide scholarships for participants who wish to Nordic ski but cannot afford to pay registration fees, equipment fees and purchase ski passes. MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter - $1,500 to purchase new cat housing "condos" which will improve the quality of life and care for shelter cats. Payette Lakes Community Association, Inc. (McCall) - $500 to provide equipment, transportation and instructors for the Science and Engineering segment of the Expanding Horizons Program. Payette Lakes Ski Club - $2,500 to remodel the ski lodge, the after -school program hub, to increase lodge capacity by an additional 25 persons, improve energy efficiency and create a dedicated ski patrol/first aid room. ROSE Advocates Inc. (Weiser) - $4,000 to purchase supplies, phone/Internet use (McCall and Cascade), rent/utilities for the McCall office, (Cascade office use donated by Valley County), and mileage between offices as well as victim emergency transportation when needed. The Shepherds Home - $3,000 to ensure that the doors are open when children are in need. Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary - $2,000 to provide modest stipends to interns, support their room and board while they reside at Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary, and provide a vehicle for their use to rescue animals and travel to present public programs. (Nampa) — $2,000 to buy equipment and materials to provide simulated training in the Certified Nurse Assistant and cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses for the CWI Workforce Development program in Valley County. • Family Advocates Program, Inc. (Boise) — $2,500 to provide high -quality advocacy for children in foster care in Valley County, as well as strengthen their community relationships. • Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc. (Boise) — $2,000 to provide the highest quality children's educational television programming and intemet resources to Valley County families. • id Theater, Inc. (McCall) — $2,000 to provide fees and travel stipends for regional and national artists who work with local students and artists. • Idaho Diaper Bank, Inc. (Boise) — $1,500 to purchase diapers for families living in Valley County, applying negotiated bulk discount rates from high -quality diaper manufacturers. • Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Inc. (Boise) — $1,000 to support the 2015-16 Valley County portion of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's educational outreach tours, Idaho Theater for Youth and Shakespearience, which travel to elementary and secondary schools. • Lee Pesky Leaming Center (Boise) — $2,000 to provide resources for parents of kindergarten -aged children in Valley County to promote learning in the home. • McCall Arts and Humanities Council — $2,000 to provide high -quality art education for rural elementary students by placing professional artists in classrooms. • McCall Senior Citizens, Inc. — $2,925 to purchase and install a new high efficiency wood stove to supplement the heating during the winter months to reduce the cost of propane and provide a healthy environment. • McCall Ski Racing Team — $2,000 to purchase 10 sets of alpine racing skis and bindings for rent or loan to newly enrolled athletes at the U8 - U12 level, who want to try out the sport of alpine racing but whose families cannot afford the cost. • McCall -Donnelly Education Foundation — $1,000 to purchase theater lights for McCall -Donnelly High School's performance facility, which are suitable for both school and community theater productions. • MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter (McCall) — $1,500 to purchase a cat condo unit for the offsite adoption location at the MCPAWS Thrift Store. • Payette Lakes Community Association, Inc. (McCall) — $1,000 to support student projects, and provide supplies related to the STEM curriculum. • Payette Lakes Middle School (McCall) — $1,200 to purchase iPod Touches to assist struggling seventh graders with their reading skills. • Payette Lakes Ski Club (McCall) — $2,500 to support the after -school ski program. • ROSE Advocates Inc. Shelton and Gladys A. Pospisil Shelton Foundation. The grant was made to the Idaho Diaper Bank, which prodded the diapers to the Mother Mentors to distribute to food banks in McCall, Donnelly and Cascade. A family with three children needing diapers can spend upwards of S3oo per month on the basic necessity, Idaho Diaper Bank Executive Director Shawna Welz said. (McCall) — $500 to buy materials to do a geographic study of the U.S., to acquire STEM projects for the study of various scientific concepts and to purchase iPad minis for the research. • Payette Lakes Ski Club (McCall) — $3,000 to cover bus costs for the after -school program. • ROSE Advocates, Inc.
