HomeMy Public PortalAboutCapital Planning Committee -- 2010-12-17 Minutes CAPITAL PLAN MEETING
December 17, 2010
Minutes
Present: Jim Vachon, Lisa Vitale, Don Poole, Lisa Souve, Charles Sumner, Fire
Chief Bob Moran and Deputy Fire Chief Bill Harrison.
Chief Moran recently began employment as the Brewster Fire Chief in the Fall of
2010. Chief Moran did remove the Fire Station renovation/reconstruction project
from his proposed capital plan. This will give him an opportunity to understand the
department needs, as well as to review prior studies and plans during the coming
year. The Committee members thought the project should be left on the list and a
sum of $10 million was placed in FY2015. There are station repairs that need to be
performed. The Fire Dept will solicit quotes for submission to the committee.
Item #6, the Ford Ambulance —this request for $200,000 will allow for the
replacement of a six year old ambulance. The town has three ambulances that are
on a replaced every sixth year.
Item #7 is the Rescue Tool (Jaws of Life), they have 3 units. The sum of$20,000
was in included in the plan for FY2011 but was delayed. This request will be
resubmitted for FY2012 at $26,000.
Item #8 is a the newest ambulance. The original box was refurbished and
reinstalled on a new chassis.
Item #11 concerns departmental breathing apparatus. The current equipment is
quite old and in need of repairs. A sum of $45,000 was originally requested for
FY2012. The Fire Department had recently applied for a $265,000 Grant which
they did not receive. We have removed the request for $45,000 and have
requested $280,000 in FY2013. This sum will provide for approximately 42 units
and may be funded with Bond Proceeds.
Item #14 Computers Equipment; $25,000 is requested for 2012. The Fire
Department is working towards a plan to install computers in each of the
ambulances.
Item #15 Protective Clothing Equipment will be left on the Plan for funding in
FY2012 and FY2105. The clothing has been repaired and inspected to monitor its
condition.
Item #19 AED Replacements: they have 6 defibrillators. They are distributed
between the Town Hall, Council of Aging, Golf Course and the Fire Station.
