_Proclamation
WHEREAS, Steven R. Swanson has served and inspired his nation and the world as an astronaut
with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA); and
WHEREAS, Steven R. Swanson was selected as a NASA mission specialist in 1998 and was
instrumental to the success of the Space Shuttle program; and
WHEREAS, Steven R. Swanson successfully completed three space missions to the International
Space Station which entailed four spacewalks totaling 26 hours 22 minutes, six months as the
commander of the Station, and an accumulated 195 days, 15 hours, 41 minutes in space; and
WHEREAS, Steven R. Swanson is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades to include the
NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal, NASA Johnson Space Center Certificate of
Accommodation, Flight Simulation Engineering Award, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Steven R. Swanson upon retirement took a position with Boise State University to
share his unique knowledge and experience with future generations; and
WHEREAS, Steve R. Swanson has taken time from his personal and professional interests to
travel to McCall, Idaho to share that unique knowledge and experience with the citizens of
McCall
NOW THEREFORE, I, Jackie Aymon, Mayor of the City of McCall, with the consent of the
McCall City Council, do hereby proclaim July 16`" 2016 as
STEVEN R. SWANSON DAY t
