CITY COUNCIL
TEMPLE CITY CALIFORNIA
JANUARY 5, 1967
The adjourned meeting of the City Council was called to
order by Mayor Tyrell.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Councilmen - Beckley, Briggs, Harker, Merritt, Tyrell
ABSENT: Councilmen -None
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Koski
1. APPROVAL OF EXPENSE REPORT:
The City Council unanimously approved reimbursement to Councilman
Beckley for expenses incurred during his visit as the City's
r representative to our Sister City of Magdalena, Mexico, in the
amount of $80.
2. APPROVAL OF BROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT:
The City Council unanimously approved the acquisition of property
to provide an 80 ft. wide right of way for the improvement of
Broadway between Rosemead Blvd. and Eaton Wash. The estimated
acquisition cost would be $55,000.
3. INFORMAL DISCUSSION:
(a) Rev. Dennis Savage appeared before the City Council and out-
lined his thoughts on the need for a coordinated community
effort to determine the future goals of Temple City. After
a thorough discussion the City Council agreed that a
Community Action Committee would be the way to provide
organization and direction to a program of such a nature.
(b) A joint study session with the Traffic Commission followed
and various items were discussed, including the need for
control of on- street parking and whether to be by the three
wheel motorcycle or a traffic petrol car.
(c) Bus Bench replacement program: Temple City Rotary
A community service project presented by the Temple City
Rotary Club involving the replacement of bus benches, with
replacement benches to be provided at Rotary expense. A
style of bench without a back was accepted as a functional
replacement.
(c) MEMBERSHIPS:
1) Committee' of Mayors: It was agreed that membership in
the Committee of Mayors would no longer be retained.
11) SCAG:
It was agreed by the Council to approve the invoice for
membership in the Southern California Association of
Governments in the amount of $484.80.
(d) A joint study session was held with the Planning Commission
and various items were discussed. It was agreed that an-
other study session would be held in the very immediate
future, and thereafter with all commissions on a 3 month
interval.
4. Adjournment: The adjourned meeting was adjourned to a personnel
session. The Next regular meeting of the City Council will be
on January 17, 1967, at 7:30 P. M., in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall, 5938 Kauffman Ave., Temple C'ty.
