Jane Moore seconded the motion. Motion passed. Approval of Minutes Jane Moore moved the minutes from the July 11, 2017 Regular Meeting be accepted. Bill Case seconded. Motion passed. New Business Jayme Abbott announced that Bill Gerling was resigning from the commission because he was moving outside of City limits. Council approved a new member, Nathan Percy, during the August 7, 2017 meeting. Mr. Percy meets the educational requirements set forth in the Certified Local Government program. Other Business a. Jayme Abbott announced that she will be attending the SHPO HPF grant workshop to be held on August 11, 2017. City is looking at submitting two separate applications 1) preservation plan and 2) survey. b. Eric Barron provided an update on the historic district & demolition ordinance. Eric explained that the primary focus is to complete the demolition ordinance work before diving into the historic district research. Staff is to be providing monthly update to the Public Works & Planning Committee. By: _______________________________________________ Date: ____________ Historic Preservation Commission Representative STAFF REPORT HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION – CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI September 5, 2017 Demolition Application for 1828 Mississippi St. Application filed by Kenneth & Melissa Wampler, recent property owners, for the demolition of the residential structure constructed in 1940. NATURE OF REQUEST This property consists of a residential house. As indicated by the demolition application, the property foundation has serious problems, and the three additions that were not properly built. The purpose of the request is that the owners intend to place on the property a pre-fab house on a permanent concrete pillar foundation. STAFF ANALYSIS MidMOGIS shows that the property was constructed in 1940. The immediate surrounding properties ha ve a range of construction dates from 1976 to 1998. The property is sited near/back of Oak Hills Golf Club. Historic Preservation Review Yes No Comments Property listed on the National Register? X Property awarded Landmark Designation? The surrounding properties of the area are all newer construction; therefore the demolition would not have any effect on the historical integrity of the neighborhood. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Jefferson Historic Preservation Commission supports the grant applications for the Historic Preservation Fund program.
