An Order Relative to the Acquisition of Permanent Easements and Temporary
Construction Easements for the Mt. Auburn Street Reconstruction Project and
Authorizing the City Manager to Execute the Order of Taking on Behalf of the City
WHEREAS, the City is required to acquire the permanent easements and temporary
construction easements for the Mt. Auburn Street reconstruction project, which project is
funded by the Commonwealth and the federal government; and
WHEREAS, the easements are shown on plans entitled "Plan of Land Showing Proposed
Easement Parcels Taken in the City of Watertown Watertown, MA Rehabilitation of Mount
Auburn Street (Route 16)," dated August 4, 2023, prepared by Chappell Engineering
Associates, LLC.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED: That the City Council votes to acquire, by eminent
domain, the permanent easements and temporary construction easements as shown on
the aforesaid plans, and to pay compensation to the property owners affected thereby in
accordance with the appraisals done of the easement interests, as set forth in Schedule B
of the Order of Taking.
AND FURTHER, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the
Order of Taking on behalf of the City.
