Nash Rink members Merwyn Nash, Jordan Nash, Garrett Nash, Bret Stauts and Woody Woodworth bested The Yacht Club team of Tom States, Joy Everhart, and Charlie and Bev Nightengale in a show of skill and strategy Sunday's play marked the third and final rounds of competition that spanned two weekends. Sunday's action started when the Eagles went up against Sheet Happens and took the win by a slim margin. Hakes Rock played the McCall Junior Rink and, although the juniors proved to be formidable, Hakes took the win. House Wreckers tried to pull out a huge win against WWB only to fall short against the veteran team. At this point Hakes Rocks, McCall Juniors and Housewreckers were eliminated from the playoffs. In a playoff round The Eagles, made up of Scott and Connie Harris, Phil Savasta and Holly Apley, went up against the WWB team of Laura Crawford, Judy Hughes, Tammy Preston, Jo Conn and Bill Colpo to decide third and fourth positions. The finals will begin at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at Manchester Ice and Event Centre. Admission is free. In Sunday's first round, the House Wreckers beat the team from Shore Lodge and WWB took down the Stone House Sliders. The Eagles tried but failed against the Nash Rink and the junior Team Adam Smash gave a valiant effort only to come up short against Hakes Rocks. In the second round, The Stone House Sliders came out on top against the team from Shore Lodge. Nash Rink held up and took the win against Hakes Rocks, and WWB gave their best game only to let House Wreckers come out on top. The 10th annual event, held at Manchester Ice and Event Centre, saw Nash Rink and House Wreckers compete for the coveted cup. The House Wreckers team included Tim Garber, Ted Simplot, Mike Ekhart and Billy Garber, while Nash Rink included Merwyn Nash, Garrett Nash, Bret Stauts, Woody Woodworth and Jordan Nash. The battle for third place was between Hakes Rocks, composed of Jan VanNoy, Christine Droulard, Dawna Leedom, Alexa Hersel and Shellie Heath, and WWB, composed of Bill Colpo, Jo Conn, Laura Crawford, and David Crawford. WWB prevailed for the third -place honors. The team, called the Landsharks, won the "A" bracket. 12 teams take part in Rocktoberspiel curling event In McCall Twelve teams took part in the ninth annual Rockto- berspiel curling tournament held last weekend at Man- chester Ice and Event Centre in McCall. Three teams were local, three came from Arizona and the rest hailed from Canada, Utah and Boise. The event was hosted by the McCall Curling Club. The winners of the `A' bracket were the Landsharks from Utah with team mem- bers Charles Funk, Wendy Goodman-Funk andDanielle Funk with assistance from Merwyn Nash of McCall. The runners-up of the A' bracket were the Arizona Thunder from Phoenix with team members Jeff Baird, Tracey Heuermann, Tracey Drummon, and Christy Pack. The winners of the "B" bracket were Curls Gone Wild from Boise with members Thomas Tomlin- son, Scott Fuhrman, John Fuhrman and Travis Cooper. The Hairy Stones, consisting of David Crawford, Merwyn Nash, Adam Carlson, and Barry Kondnsky, defeated BLTS, composed of Laura Crawford, Bill Colpo, Tracy Broome, and Sue Hall in the championship match. The BLTS took a commanding lead of 9-0 but The Hairy Stones came back in the last three ends to take the win and the cup with a final score of 12-9. The House Wreckers team of Tim Garber, Ted Simplot, Jeff Goodman, and Tami Bachart took home third place after defeating FATCO and Collin Loveall, Adam Orme, Beau Horenberger, and Jim Bates. The Eagle, composed of Scott Hams, Connie Harris, Holly Apley, and Phil Savasta, defeated It's Complicated and members Rick Mooney, Michele Mooney, Haden Tanner, and Kaila Tanner for fourth place. The McCall Curling Club will hold another session for beginners starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, with league play scheduled to start Dec. 6. Curlers can learn the sport Sunday at ice rink Curling season has returned and free lessons are available from the McCall Curling Club on Sunday. The club is hosting Leam to Curl lessons from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Manchester Ice and Event Centre. Participants will leam about the sport and get ready for competition. Curlers should wear loose, warm clothing and clean flat rubber soled shoes such as tennis shoes. The club will provide all necessary curling equipment. League play begins Sunday, Dec. 6, and all league games take place on Sunday evenings.
