Town of Leesburg Launches New Citizen Self‐Service
Website Portal
Taxpayers and customers now able to view and pay taxes and utility bills online
Leesburg, VA (February 27, 2013) – Today, the Town of Leesburg launched a new Citizen Self‐
Service Portal on the Town website that allows residents, taxpayers and customers to view and
pay taxes and utility bills online. The new portal can be accessed at
www.leesburgva.gov/customerportal.
Through this portal, Town customers can view and pay their real estate taxes, personal
property taxes and utility (water and sewer) bills. To view and pay utility bills and personal
property taxes, customers must create a User ID and link their accounts to that User ID.
Viewing and paying real estate property tax bills does not require the creation of a User ID.
“We’ve had many requests for this web‐based service,” explained Norm Butts, Leesburg’s
Director of Finance. “The new portal not only makes paying these bills easier for the customer,
but it also reduces staff time needed to process the payments.”
Payments made via the new portal are managed by Official Payments (OPAY) which charges a
convenience fee, but the Town offers other payments options that do not require a service
charge or convenience fee. For more information about other payment options, please visit
www.leesburgva.gov/payments.
In addition to paying taxes and utility bills through the portal, customers can view certain
general billing invoices, such as airport fees for hangar and tie‐down leases, parking garage fees
for monthly permits, and other miscellaneous Town bills, but they cannot pay these bills via the
portal.
