A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ENDORSING
PROPOSITION W ON THE JUNE 4, 1974
BALLOT
WHEREAS, Water is the lifeblood of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, half the population of the state and half of its assessed
valuation depend upon water supplied by The Metropolitan Water District,
a public agency; and
WHEREAS, California will lose more than half its Colorado River
water because of a Supreme Court ruling on the Central Arizona Project;
and
WHEREAS, Proposition W on the June. 4th ballot will help guarantee
our water supply, assisting MWD to complete its vital construction pro-
gram in bringing water from the State Water Project to more than 120
cities and many large unincorporated areas in six Southern California
counties; and
WHEREAS, this will be accomplished through the issuance of revenue
bonds repaid from water revenues - - -not taxes; and
WHEREAS, this project will pump millions of dollars into our econ-
omy over a period of many years, creating jobs for thousands of people
and expanding purchasing power; and
WHEREAS, the alternative to Proposition W would be the use of pay -
as- you -go financing, requiring the taxpayers and water users of this
generation to carry all the cost of facilities for generations to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TEMPLE CITY
HEREBY endorses Proposition W as the soundest and most equitable
way to finance our water supply and calls on all Temple City residents
to cast a resounding YES vote for Proposition W on June 4th.
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1974.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted by
the City Council of the City of Temple City, at a regular meeting
held on the 16th day of April, 1974, by the following vote of the
Council:
AYES: Councilmen - Gilbertson, Greenberg, Merritt, Tyrell, Dennis
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen -None
