PROCLAMATION HONORING WATERTOWN COOPERATIVE NURSERY
SCHOOL ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 70TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS: Watertown Cooperative Nursery School is celebrating its 70th anniversary on
September 9, 2023, at StoryFest; and
WHEREAS: The school has served hundreds of families across several generations; and
WHEREAS: The school offers a safe, nurturing, inclusive environment that balances self -directed
learning with whole group experiences by allowing children time and space to develop skills by
playing, tinkering, making mistakes, experiencing both success and failure, and reflecting on their
own thinking; and
WHEREAS: Watertown Cooperative Nursery School is dedicated to making families an integral
part of their children's preschool experience by providing opportunities for parents to assist in the
classroom and in the operation of the school; and
WHEREAS: The school's cooperative model of governance fosters a cohesive community in which
everyone's perspectives and feelings are valued.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Watertown City Council extends its
sincerest congratulations to Watertown Cooperative Nursery School as it celebrates 70 years of
serving families, and honors their outstanding contributions to the City of Watertown.
