Call to Order
Art Hernandez called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
Approval of Agenda
Jane Moore moved the agenda be approved as printed. Steven Hoffman seconded the motion. Motion
passed.
Approval of Minutes
Mary Schantz moved the minutes from the August 8, 2017 Regular Meeting be accepted. Bill Case
seconded. Motion passed.
Demolition Application
1828 Mississippi – Jayme Abbott went over the staff report In reviewing Section 8-44 C, Criteria for
Nomination, the structure does not appear to hold any historical significance in terms of heritage,
cultural or architecturally. The surrounding properties of the area are all newer construction; therefore
the demolition would not have any effect on the historical integrity of the neighborhood. Mary Schantz
moved that there will be “no historic properties affected” by the demolition and the permit is
recommended for approval by this commission. Steven Hoffman seconded. Motion passed.
New Business
HPF Grant Resolution - Jayme Abbott explained that the HPF grant application requires a resolution be
passed supporting the survey and historic preservation plan applications. Bill Case moved to pass the
resolution as written. Mary Schantz seconded. Motion Passed.
New Member – Nathan Percy introduced himself to the commission.
Golden Hammer Homes Tour – Janet Mauer handed out flyers for the Historic City of Jefferson Golden
Hammer Homes Tour to be held on September 17, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Cathy Bordner – Art Hernandez announced that Cathy Bordner will be moving out of state in October.
Art moved that a resolution be placed on the October agenda to thank Ms. Bordner for all of her work in
the community. Steven Hoffman seconded. Motion passed.
Other Business
Jayme Abbott passed out the Public Works and Planning Committee Agenda for the September 21,
2017, meeting. An update will be made regarding the demolition ordinance to the Public Works &
Planning Committee.
