New Exhibit of Photography by Diane Helentjaris Now on
Display at Leesburg Town Hall
Leesburg, VA (March 5, 2013) – A new exhibit of
works by Loudoun‐based photographer Diane
Helentjaris is now on display in the Leesburg
Town Hall, through June 2013. The twenty‐one
photographs in the exhibit include many familiar
local scenes, often taken from a new or different
perspective.
When Diane Helentjaris moved to Leesburg from
the Midwest in 1990 it was clear the region was
undergoing a major transition. The future of its’
agricultural base and historic vistas was
uncertain. Struck by the area’s beauty, she
made capturing Loudoun’s images her
photographic goal. Over time, Diane has move
to a digital camera and thoroughly enjoys this
advance in technology. Her photographs
emphasize composition and her enjoyment of
history a

nd nature.
Her work has been exhibited for over twenty years, appearing regionally in the Midwest and
Virginia. She has been published locally in Leesburg Today, Loudoun Magazine, and the
Washington Post, and nationally in the Journal of the American Medical Women’s Association
and in Seen and Unseen.
Diane Helentjaris originally began her educational studies as a studio art major at Michigan
State University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary
Humanities. She went on to study science at McGill University in Montreal and obtained her
Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree in allopathic medicine from Michigan State University. She
earned her Master’s in Public Health at the University of Michigan.

Diane’s photographic images are available for purchase in multiple formats at
www.helentjaris.smugmug.com. All exhibited artwork is available to buy. Diane is also available
for consignment work, including photographing local historic and picturesque properties.
The Leesburg Town Exhibit Hall was established by the Leesburg Commission on Public Art in
December 2009 to provide a public venue for local artists to display their work. Artists
interested in having their work considered for a future exhibit should contact Jeanette Irby, the
staff liaison to the Leesburg Commission on Public Art, at 703‐737‐7175 or
