AT COMMUNTIY CENTER PRESENT: Mayor - Craig Rockwood, Council members — Brad Andersen, Don Holverson, Scott Long. Council member Dave Huntsman was out of town. The Council discussed future improvements to the water system. The effectiveness of running another line down from the hill vs. adding an additional well with variable speed pump needs to be considered A bond would need to be passed or a loan secured in order to pay the costs. Council member Brad Andersen suggested applying for a grant. He will check into it. The Mayor would like to see the line replaced on Crook Road, North Iona Road, Rushton Road, and Iona Road. The Mayor said there will come a day when we will be required to have meters. He suggested putting in 4 or 5 meters now to get an idea of how much water is being used at different places in town. The Council discussed another newsletter going out and just have water/conservation issues in it. Main Street Parking was discussed. The restrictions, enforcement, painting the stripes, over night parking etc. were discussed. We will have an export from Idaho Falls give us some recommendations. Enforcement was also discussed. Kathy Demott, Marty and Kim Getsinger, and John Lott, the Tree Committee, discussed their plans for the Arbor Day celebration, May 7th. Town and Country had the lowest bid for the trees. They will deliver them and put them in the holes if they are dug. Kathy needs some volunteers to help with the planting. The school will join them at 1:30. She would like to give pencils to the kids with Arbor Day written on them. Kim Getsinger is putting together a tree care plan. They need this plan in order to get the grant. The welcome sign was also discussed. The process to annex property into City limits was discussed. The majority of the people have to be in favor of being annexed and have to be touching the City limits. Vacant property can be annexed. Speeding in City limits was discussed. The Mayor will contact the Sheriff about doing more patrol. Council member Brad Andersen discussed plans for the Easter Egg Hunt Sat., April 10th He said the Historical Committee will meet Tues. at 9:00 a.m. Getting someone to work full time to take Ross's place was discussed. Mayor Rockwood said Ross would like to work one more year and then start training someone. City Clerk Betty McKinlay discussed the Gem Community Committee and the Council and Mayor gave her directive for the Committee to work on.
