HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD15731 SUBSTITUTE #2 PASSED AS AMENDED - FINAL BILL NO. 2017-74 SPONSORED BY COUNCILMAN Mihalevich ORDINANCE NO. / 5-73- 1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI AMENDING ARTICLE 11, PAID HOLIDAYS, OF THE PERSONNEL POLICY MANUAL TO INCLUDE FLOATING HOLIDAYS. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Jefferson, Missouri, hereby accepts the additional language added to Article 11, Paid Holidays, of the Personnel Policy Manual, as follows: Section 11-1. Regular Holidays Section 11-2. Floating Holidays (a) All full-time and part-time with benefits employees employed on November 1 of each year shall be credited with one floating holiday per fiscal year. Fire service personnel assigned to fire suppression duty will receive 42 24.25 hours per floating holiday. Police personnel inap trol and communications assigned to 10 hour shifts will receive 10 hours per floating holiday. Part-time with benefits employees will receive 4 hours per floating holiday. All other full-time employees will receive 8 hours per floating holiday. u Floating holidays must be scheduled and approved in advance and taken in one shift. Departments may require specific time frames for requests and approval. Floating holidays shall be scheduled by each department director so as to minimize overtime costs, loss of efficiency and departmental disruptions while allowing as much flexibilLty to the employees as possible. The Director of Public Works may close JEFFTRAN on a particular day and transit division employees will take their floating holidays on that day. SUBSTITUTE #2 Floating holiday pay is not considered time worked .for the purposes of FLSA as described in Section 8-13 and is not a declared holiday. (e) Floating holidays must be used in the fiscal year they are earned. Floating holidays may not be, taken once an employee submits a resignation, except transit division employees who are required to use a particular day and that day falls within their notice of resignation and date of separation. There shall be no compensation made for floating holidays accrued when an employee leaves the employment of the City. There shall be no use of or compensation for floating holidays when an employee is transferred from full-time status to part-time without benefits status, or for remaining hours when an employee transfers to a shift/schedule working fewer hours. There shall be no accrual of floating holidays if an employee is on leave on the first day of the fiscal year and does not return to full service. Section 2.
