Report and Recommendations
August 14, 2014
The Committee on Education and School System Matters met on August 14 to interview George Skuse
for appointment to the Cable Access Corporation. Present were Committee Chair Councilor Aaron
Dushku, Vice Chair Councilor Kenny Woodland, and Secretary Councilor Tony Palomba.
In response to the question of why he chose to apply for a position on the Cable Access Corporation, Mr.
Skuse explained that cable programming provided an important way for Watertown residents to stay
informed about the civic and political life of the Town and he felt he could contribute to enhancing this
service. He has been involved with cable programming since he was a Watertown High School volunteer
and has most recently, as the IT Manager for Watertown High School, participated in the negotiation with
Comcast regarding an upgrade to the system at the high school. He also mentioned that he would like to
see the Commission interact with the Watertown Middle School, and possibly the elementary schools, as
it presently does with the Watertown High School.
Councilor Woodland made a motion that the Committee recommend to the full Town Council that Mr.
Skuse be appointed to the Cable Access Commission. Councilor Palomba seconded the motion and the
motion passed 3 — 0.
Report submitted by Councilor Palomba.
