AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 85, which provides
for the classification and reclassification of all positions in
the classified service by grades and fixing the compensation for
employees in each grade, providing for the classification of
additional positions by grades and the assignment of new positions
to grades in the classified service and the fixing of compensation
therefor, fixing the hours of work, by repealing Paragraph (b) of
Section One relating to the "Rates for Hourly Paid Employees" and
enacting in lieu thereof a new Paragraph (b) of Section One of
said Ordinance relating to the same subject, and containing an
emergency clause.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METRO-
POLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT:
Section One. Paragraph (b) of Section One of Ordinance
No. 85 relating to the RATES FOR HOURLY PAID EMPLOYEES is hereby
repealed and a new Paragraph (b) of Section One of Ordinance 85 is
hereby enacted in lieu thereof reading as follows:
RATES FOR HOURLY PAID EMPLOYEES (b)The following classes may, at their election, be paid at the listed hourly rates upon approval of the Executive Director. Employees electing to be paid the hourly rate on this schedule shall not be eligible for increment increases under Section 5.4 (b) of the Civil Service Rules.

Section Two. The necessity of keeping the above des-
cribed skilled employees in the employ of the District and the only
means to do so is to pay the equivalent rate that similar skilled
employees are receiving in other employment within the area of The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District creates an emergency within
the meaning of the Plan and this Ordinance shall be and become
effective upon October 7, 1957.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted September 30, 1957.
