HomeMy Public PortalAbout00775 O R D I N A N C E NO. 775 AN ORDINANCE, establishing a subdistrict in the City of St. Louis and in St. Louis County, Missouri, to be known as the Mississippi River Subdistrict of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. WHEREAS, the pollution of the Mississippi River by human and industrial waste and filth has become a serious and present danger to the public health of the citizens of this District, the greater St. Louis area and all people along or near the River; and WHEREAS, the sewage from all the areas of this District which drain into the Mississippi River directly is now either in closed sewers or the remaining sewers are under construction, enabling such sewage to be conveyed to the River; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a subdistrict in order to construct facilities to alleviate the aforesaid condition and to furnish proper and adequate sewer service and to protect the public health, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT: Section One. There is hereby established a subdistrict of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District within which sewer, sewage treatment, or drainage facilities may be constructed, reconstructed, or improved at the expense of the subdistrict. Such subdistrict shall be known as The Mississippi River Subdistrict of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. Section Two. The boundaries of, the Mississippi River Subdistrict of The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District shall be as follows: is hereby confirmed. Section Two. This Ordinance being for the confirmation of a contract for sewer construction and the sewers to be constructed being necessary for the protection of the public health, constitutes an emergency within the meaning of the Plan, and this Ordinance shall be and become effective immediately upon its adoption. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted June 25, 1962.
