HomeMy Public PortalAbout00777REPEALED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1213 O R D I N A N C E NO. 777 AN ORDINANCE, amending Ordinance No. 395, as adopted May 17, 1960, by adding to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations thereby adopted an additional rule to be known as Rule 11.5, providing for retirement of employees in the classified service. WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission did hold a public hearing at 8:00 o'clock pm. Tuesday, June 12, 1962, on the adoption of a new Rule 11.5 proposed to be added to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations to provide for the retirement of employees in the classified service, and has recommended to the Board the adoption of such Rule 11.5. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT. Section One. Ordinance No. 395, as adopted May 17, 1960 is hereby amended by adding to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations thereby adopted an additional rule to be known as Rule 11.5 and to read as follows: 11.5 RETIREMENT a.Compulsory Retirement On and after January 1, 1963, no person shall be eligible to hold a position in the classified service after the first day of the month following his sixty fifth birthday, except as provided herein. b.Deferment of Retirement The compulsory retirement of a person in the classified service may be deferred upon written request of his appointing authority and approval of the Executive Director. Each such request shall be limited to a deferment period not in excess of one year, and no such deferment shall extend beyond the first day of the month following the seventieth birthday of such classified employee No such request for deferment shall be approved unless the Executive Director finds that such employee is capable of performing his duties efficiently and without undue hazard to the employee, the District or the public c. Provision for Re-employment Any person who is retired from a position in the classified service under this rule shall nevertheless be eligible until June 30, 1964 for reappointment to a classified position of the same grade and step from which he retired without a qualifying examination for the minimum period, not to exceed one year, necessary for his participation in such retirement system or pension plan as may be provided by law for employees in the classified service. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted June 25, 1962.
