HomeMy Public PortalAbout01337 O R D I N A N C E NO. 1337 AN ORDINANCE, authorizing the Executive Director and the Secretary-Treasurer of The Metropolitan St Louis Sewer District to purchase certain real property in City block 3322 in the City of St. Louis, Missouri, to be used as a portion of the site of a treatment plant for the Mississippi River Subdistrict, prescribing terms, and containing an emergency clause. BE ORDAINED BY THE BOLD OF TRUSTEES OF THE METROPOLITAN ST LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT: Section One. The Executive Director and the Secretary- Treasurer of the District are authorized to purchase the following real property in City Block 3322 in the City of St. Louis, Missouri, to be used as a portion of the site of a treatment plant for the Mississippi River Subdistrict, at a price not to exceed Eighty Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and No cents ($86,500.00), said property to be free of all encumbrances, said property described as follows A parcel of ground being all of Block 3322 of she City of St. Louis, Missouri, together with a portion of former Powder Street vacated by Ordinance 44212 adjoining on the east, and being more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the point of intersection of the northern line of East Grand Avenue, 60 feet wide, with the centerline of said former Powder Street, 60 feet wide, vacated; thence South 55 degrees 50 minutes West 350.00 feet along the northern line of East Grand Avenue to the eastern line of Whitman Street, 60 feet wide; thence North 34 degrees 13-1/2 minutes West 350.33 feet along the eastern line of Whitman Street to the southern line of John Avenue, 60 feet wide; thence North 55 degrees 50 minutes East 320.00 feet along the southern line of John Avenue to the western line of said former Powder Street; thence North 34 degrees 13-1/2 minutes West 30.00 feet along the western line of former Powder Street to the centerline of said John Avenue; thence North 55 degrees 50 minutes East 300.00 feet along the eastward prolongation of the centerline of John Avenue to the centerline of said former Powder Street; thence South 34 degrees 13-1/2 minutes East 380.33 feet along the centerline of former Powder Street to the northern line of East Grand Avenue and the point of beginning, and containing 123,516 square feet or 2.836 Acres according to a survey by Pitzman's Company of Surveyors and Engineers, dated March 17, 1965. Section Two. The Executive Director and the Secretary- Treasurer may make agreements and execute instruments as may be necessary to the exercise of the authority, given and upon receipt of a warranty deed conveying to the District the fee simple title to the described realty, free and clear of liens and encumbrances, they may pay the purchase price, or the final installment thereof, as a charge against the Construction Fund of the Mississippi River Subdistrict. Section Three. An emergency exists within the meaning of the Plan, since the realty is needed for the protection of the public health and the purchase must be arranged for without delay. Accordingly, this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its enactment. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted May 28, 1965.
