AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN,
IOWA, CHAPTER 136, SIDEWALK REGULATIONS, TO CHANGE THE
AMOUNT OF TIME PROPERTY OWNERS HAVE TO REMOVE SNOW,
ICE, AND ACCUMULATIONS FROM SIDEWALKS UNDER 136.03
REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE, AND ACCUMLATIONS.
BE IT ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa:
Section I. Purpose: The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Section 136.03,
Code of Ordinances, to change the amount of time property owners have to remove
snow, ice, and accumulations from sidewalks from within a reasonable time to within
48 hours after cessation of such accumulation.
Section II. Amendment: Section 136.03 of Chapter 136 is hereby replaced
with the following:
CHAPTER 136
SIDEWALK REGULATIONS
136.03 REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE, AND ACCUMULATIONS. It is the responsibility of
the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice, and accumulations from sidewalks. If a
property owner does not remove snow, ice, or accumulations within 48 hours after cessation of
such accumulation, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for
collection in the same manner as a property tax.
Section III. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinance in conflict with the
provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section IV. Severability Clause. If any section;provision or part of this
ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not
affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof
not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Section V. When Effective. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final
passage, approval, and posting as provided by law.

THE AMOUNT OF TIME PROPERTY OWNERS HAVE TO REMOVE SNOW,
ICE, AND ACCUMULATIONS FROM SIDEWALKS UNDER 136.03
REMOVAL OF SNOW, ICE, AND ACCUMLATIONS and known as No. 2013 -
328 was duly passed by the Council on the 8th day of May 2013, and signed by the
Mayor on the 13th day of May 2013; and published on the 14th day of May 2013, by
posting copies thereof in three public places within the limits of the City of Tiffin,
Iowa. That I posted copies of Ordinance No. 2013 - 328 in the following places:
